I have a mystery to solve. It's a real "whodunnit" and I don't have a clue.
Whatever happened to Tim Wright?????????????
He came to us with limited expectations, but lots of hopeful promise.....and then he DELIVERED far beyond our reasonable expectations. By mid season he not only had contributed 6 TDs to the offense, he had some kind of outrageous stat, like catching 95% of all balls thrown at him, and ZERO drops
......and then he disappears COMPLETELY from the offense.
I don't exactly know when it happened. I definitely don't know WHY it happened. But over the last 8-10 games (including the playoffs) Tim Wright had become a complete non-factor in the Pats offense. Hooman had more targets and catches than Tim did in the playoffs. Think about all the pregame threads where "This might be the game Tim Wright breaks out" was a common prediction. It never happened. Why?
Well, there are the usual reasons why a receiver loses relevance. "He drops too many balls". Well we know THAT wasn't a reason, the kid was virtually flawless in that regard.. Or there is the old, "he's not on the same page with Brady" reason. But they looked to be fairly in synch in the middle of the season, so wouldn't you think it would only get better as the season went along. Finally, there is the old, "there were inside sources that told of problems the Pats are having with Tim Wright"....and there haven't been a single one. In fact he was on the game day roster, every single game.
Frankly, if you forced me to create a short list of disappointments this year, Tim Wright's 2nd half of the season, including a complete disappearance from the playoffs, would top the list, and I have yet to figure out a credible reason why this happened. So I have come to you. Will you help me solve the "Mystery of the disappearance of Tim Wright".
