is it starting to fall apart for Petey Caroll?

A lot of people are giving Pete crap for the call to pass the ball. They are wrong and should listen to BB's comment about it on his interview with Dale and Holley the other day.

I totally agree. I like Pete Carroll much more now that I ever did. I always thought he was totally annoying and his style really doesn't do much for me, but he is a great coach. And I listened to BB and just could not agree more with him. He seems to like and respect Pete and that's all I need to hear. Pete didn't take shots at us about formations or deflated footballs the way some other clowns might have. Remember after Spygate how we played the Chargers who were then coached by the illustrious Norv Turner and he came in and made sure the play books were guarded top secret or something so we couldn't come in and steal them? Remember how stunned we all were? Such a ***** move and Carroll didn't do anything like that and he could have, just to be a jerk.

As for "the Call", BB is right. It took most thinking people a day or two to really process that situation and I believe our coaching staff were the only people who really had a handle on it at the time. What a waste of my time to listen to sport media nobodies who never coached a day in ether life go on and on about how OBVIOUS it was and how bad it was handled (on both sides! I got to hear about how BB had "got away with one" when he didn't call TO. Like he forgot or something. Belichick, who has coached in more Superbowls than I can even remember. Ugh! The arrogance and stupidity of sports media is the real story, but of course, not sexy enough.)

I said to myself before & during the SB that the 2014 Patriots were very lucky health wise vs the competition. I thought if we don't win now with a healthy squad, we may never win.

Seeing a crippled Aaron Rogers lose a close one also brings home how heavily the injury gods affect the entire playoffs & SB. With our prior SB mash lists Pats fans should intuitively understand this.

But didn't they say they offered him a large contract right before SB Sunday? Like 10 million for next year? Or was that an idle report? I wondered about it because he is hitting that age where RBs usually hit a wall.

Lynch is under contract for $8.5 million for 2015 already. They don't need to do a thing with him. Wilson is under contract for $953k for 2015, but they're better off extending him rather than letting him get to free agency in 2016.

The Seahawks are not in terrible shape, capwise. They just have a lot of free agents to make decisions on, and hope they can backfill the depth they'll lose to free agency.

Albert Breer said yesterday that the players hate Darrell Bevell and are going behind his back to Tom Cable who they love.

From how Pete Carroll handled the end of the game, his rambling explanations on why he chose to throw at the end of the game, and the inmates running the asylum; Pete is quickly reverting back to the head coach that he was when he was here and the game was too big for him.

Belichick is just sticking up for another coach. I have less of a problem with them calling a passing play than I have with the play they called. Belichick knew it was coming. He knew that it was coming so much that he practiced defending that play during the week because the Seahawks call that play a lot in the red zone.

There was also some noise about Lynch retiring next year. I wonder what he will do, or if that was the same kind of noise as "Richard Sherman might miss the SB to see the birth of his son."

Every time I see replay of the game's last two minutes, I can't help but laugh aloud and feel sorry for Pete at the same time. One second he's going crazy over Kearse's catch, then the interception and he yells "OH NO!" Off goes the headset, dragging behind him. :D

he runs a loose ship, and it seems to be biting him after the superbowl loss....players calling him out on his playcall, coaches saying the WR didnt "fight hard enough" for the ball

you never heard this stuff after the 4th - 2 from the patriots players. I was just surprised to see players calling out their coach after the game.

not to mention baldwins stupid TD celebration, and the seahawks breaking out a fight like sore losers when they knew the game was over. seems like winning has covered up alot of dysfunction in his system

i actually called this last year after the win - said that his style of coaching coupled with the style of players he has assembled was going to be his downfall....we saw it with drug suspensions, etc......they were good enough to win on talent and quality coaching (carroll is that good.....just hate his style)

you're seeing him reap more of what he's sown.....the slow start, the lackluster finish (their playoff run was underwheming).....the poor behavior......you'll see some free agents lost again, and you'll see more of a slide going forward

Pats have been screwed by injuries since 2011. The worm turned. About freaking time.

His approach is great for college teams, but tough with the pros...

He is a good coach, but I expect it would be tough to sustain unless he reinvents himself as a coach of professional players who behave far differently than their college counterparts.
I do not expect Seattle to drop off the radar next year, but maybe 2 or 3 years down the road.

This is the reason why some Seattle fans call him Pom-Pom Pete. At his age (older than Belichick) I have to wonder if he can reinvent himself. We will indeed see.

Lynch is an odd duck. Not sure what the heck goes on on his noggin.

With that said, his style of running is not condusive to a long career. He should grab every penny he can as he is right at the back end of his prime.

We called him that here too. Lol

I felt the exact same way when I saw that.

That's how I see it too. However I still think that they should have ran Lynch on 2nd down. If stopped, Pete burns the TO and throw 3rd and run/pass on 4th from the 1. Play to your strengths.

The actual pass play was dumb as well. All those tall WRs and they throw a slant in traffic? Wilson is great at throwing a fade.

I think this 'Hawks in crisis' stuff is reactionary nonsense.

Carroll is a very good coach - as evidenced by back-2-back SB appearances and an absolute routing of the Broncos last year.

I think his style is quite rah-rah but he gets a LOT of out his players - only after a Superbowl loss do people start looking at the Baldwin idiocy etc.

I don't know why some Patriots fans seem to want this guy to fail - he didn't walk out on the Patriots, yet some act like jilted lovers.

The second guessing on the Wilson INT is also inane - all year long Carroll coached in his own style - taking risks that he perceived could help the team - with the realisation that a media that caters to simpletons and jealousy would be all over it, if it went wrong.

What about the TD throw at the end of the half with 6 secs left? How many would be second guessing that if it had failed.

Its the same crap that Belichick had to endure after the 4th and 2 against Indy - all the smart-asses coming out of the woodwork replete with mandatory 20/20 hindsight.

Real Coaches have to make these decisions all the time - armchair coaches only join in when it suits them, and only when they can see the result of one decision.

The Carroll criticism is a major overreaction. The guy just led his team back to the Super bowl after winning it last year. This hasn't been done in 10 years. He was one play away from having back to back titles and depending on FA Seattle should be in position to be compeiting for a spot in next year's SB as well. I was one of the ones who believe he didn't do a good job here in the late 90s but right now he's as good as it gets aside from BB.

Having the best team gives you the best chance but it takes many things falling into place to win a Super Bowl. Injuries and luck always play a big role.

Yup
And we were shafted both by injuries & fluke catches in several playoff runs
For a minute Sunday I thought the Universe was out to screw with my psyche

Nah, it's not coming apart. It will all blow over by the draft and they'll be on to next year, just like us. Heck, they'll probably want a rematch so they can beat us "for real" this time. I did like the fact that Pete Carroll came out in defense of BB saying that he knew nothing about how footballs are prepared before the game either. I also agree that BB seems to like Pete. He'll be fine.
