As much as I hate Manning, I respect him. I find it a bit depressing to think that it may be likely that we will never see another game where Brady and Manning go head to head. Sad to think. No matter how much you hate the Colts and then the Broncos and Manning, the rivalry was great.

I was thinking this as well. The debate gets tiring but I never get tired of beating Peytons ass. If the last game has already happened it will be sad. Unfortunately you can't get advance notice on these things to cherish the last one.

Yeap. That last drive made me sad for a variety of reasons.

Manning's retirement will be the next to last chapter before the end of Brady's career. I think Brady plays 3 or so more seasons than Manning but Manning's end will make the end of Brady's career feel that much more real.

If the rumors about Fox getting the axe and Del Rio to Oakland that someone posted are true I think that's the end of Manning. I can't imagine a guy at his stage in the career wanting to go through an overhaul of the coaching staff.

We've enjoyed a lot of great memories and some heartbreaks involving Peyton Manning and it's kinda just sad to see our great nemesis go out like this.

If Brady was in Manning shoes (Assuming he isn't injured) I would hope he would retire. I will never like Manning but he will go down as one of the greatest of all time. There is nothing worse than watching a once great player try to play when they have nothing left in the tank.

The thing about a great rivalry is you need a great rival. The Patriots beating Manning has been enjoyable because whatever you choose to think about Manning, he's going to Canton and he's arguably a top 10 QB of all time. That's what makes the Patriots ownership of Manning special.

Personally, I think he goes around one more time and the Broncos somehow, throw the kitchen sink at the 2015 season. I'd like for Brady to get one more crack at beating Manning in his house.

Houston seems a good fit for manning... Just saying

Yea I had planned on going to the last 3 Manning V Brady games and something always came up. regret not seeing these two play atleast once in person.

Yes I believe it may very well be the end of Brady v. Manning as we know it. The debate is settled, Tom Brady > Manning.

I do have lots of respect for Peyton. A tough way for his career to come to a close if this is it. Still, I feel satisfaction if the last game of the series was the Pats clobbering him in Foxboro, just like old times.

good riddance.
brady was always better then that idiot with that big mark on his gigantic forehead.
the excused will be fabolous tomorrow. i will dvr everything!!:D

fact is peyton has never beaten a good pats team. the championship losses bother me. brady throws to reche caldwell/gaffney/collie while manning gets hof wr's.

Ehh... I don't think that's the last of Manning, I think he has one year left.

It never felt to me at all (save maybe their first score which was made possible by the RTP call) that the Broncos showed up at all tonight. The game had an almost lethargic feel to it. Very strange. And Manning's throws were so off, so inaccurate, that I was more surprised when he completed one than when he didn't.

I wish Peyton Manning well. That nerve does not appear to be regenerating.

It will be hard to keep that team together.

He has had a great career and even if he comes back for another year or so I don't feel he will be as dominating.

Brady and Manning were absolute classics. At least we all got to see those great games.

I wish Manning well and I for one don't want to see him extend his career for numbers. That would come at a serious legacy risk for him.

I understand the sentiment, but frankly, I'm sick of the media orchestrated comparisons. Manning doesn't deserve to be compared to Tom, Montana, Elway, etc.

I hope he retires so the NFL watching world can slowly get its sanity back after being saturated with Manning GOAT Manning GOAT Manning GOAT without end.

I liked 2011, when we didn't have to hear about his amazing 6 TD passes against the Jaguars, which makes him Superbowl favorite in week #2.

I hope he does retire. Manning was exceptional. For so so so many years. But what we've witnessed since Thanksgiving : awfully sad level of play... I never hated Manning as some did on here - and he is the one player I have, as a NE fan, I have feared the most by far.

Unless there is a medical issue here (and even if there is) hampering him, leaving has to be on his mind.

It's a possibility. I still believe Manning is damaged right now, and the question is whether it is fixable or chronic. I don't believe Fox is going to get fired after a loss here. Elway has done a good job with cap management, so I expect much of the team will return next season.

It would be sad to see it end. Manning has been the foil of the Pats for such a long time, I would hate to see that string of great games end. I don't hate Manning, but I like to see him unhappy after Pats wins. It would be like the end of the Magic-Bird era.

From NFL.com's Chris Wesseling:

This game rivals a 41-0 shutout loss to the Jets in 2003 for the least effective of Manning's illustrious 17-year career. Whether it's a tired arm or the lingering quadriceps injury draining his power, the five-time MVP hasn't been right since uncorking a career-high 155 passes over a three-game span from Weeks 9 to 11. The Colts took away the middle of the field, forcing Manning to loft a series of off-target floaters down the sideline. Manning now has nine "one-and-done" playoff appearances, equaling the number of AFC Championship Games for Tom Brady. No other quarterback has lost his first playoff game more than four times.

I think it's pretty clear that Manning doesn't have enough left in the tank to last a full 16 game season plus the playoffs, and that teams have figured out that you just have to guard the middle of the field and make him throw outside to expose his arm strength and accuracy issues.

I think your first statement has everything to do with the second. The receivers were obviously down on their QB. Sanders and D. Thomas both had terrible body language during the game. Sanders looked like he wanted to scream at Manning every time Manning misfired to him. They knew the teams success rode on their QB. They knew he was done.

..and one more thing it is crazy to think that after saying all this ...just how great Brady is....I mean the rushes last night were next to nothing.

Manning may go but man o man is Brady good...I am a homer yes but Brady is just a really really good and durable qb....man is he good..

When I discussed the game with my father, his theory was the week off for the Pats and Broncos left them flat. The Pats snapped out of it, while the Donkeys never did. The Donkeys just looked bad tonight. I like the idea of the bye, but the time off rarely seems to help the emotion or rhythm of the team in the first game back (the Hawks didn't exactly distinguish themselves against the JV Panthers squad in their win - it was a game that became comfortable in the final quarter).
