Felger still talking about GB vs ATL and Julio Jones.

Did they forget the Pats played this week? Jeez

Bedard "Hightower giving NE what Mayo did and more due to athletic ability. Pats will want to restructure Mayo. Thinks he will do it. Jamie Collins has been sensational."

"Credit to Patrick Graham for coaching up LBs"

Felger saying Pats depth is overstated. Mazz asking if Mayo draws trade proposals. Bedard says JM is damaged goods
Of course Graham has to be credited because boyer isnt doing his job in the backend.

I think he is building a segue to why pats dont sign WRs to big deals and let them go and draft poorly etc etc....

Bedard thinks Rex Ryan would be great hire for GB

Halfway joking

Bedard wants Gray to get snaps. Quicker around the end and hitting the hole than LGB

Bedard says Gray is good but nothing great. Overrated by Pats fans

Is there a misquote there? He's not as good as people think, but even Bedard wants him to get more snaps? So who is overrating him? The fans who are asking for him to get more snaps? Is there a single Patriots fan that thinks Gray is a great RB?

I'm totally confused...

Thanks for posting, tamr. :)

Bedard "Wilfork is getting doubled all the time, especially running. VW isn't going to make flashy plays. SD was his most quiet game, but severely underrated on the year"

Commercial break

Reiss weighs in on Bedard's remarks about the secondary coach. From today's mailbag:

While I 100% agree with Reiss on this issue - it's sort of silly for him to take shots at Bedard. At least Bedard puts his opinion out there.

We have so many mid season pickups on this team from last 2 yrs its amazing. silinga, branch, ayers, casillias

Haha sorry about that, posting while watching NFL Network on mute and listening to F & M will do that to you.

Seemed like Bedard likes Gray and thinks he is a solid played, but some Pats fans think he is Corey Dillon reincarnated. Says he will help on stretch or edge runs

I want felger to draw up a defensive game plan. These statements are so stupid. People who saw Rodgers last nite roll out of the pocket at will and throw 30+ yard TDs forget how the pats contained him inside .

Here are Green Bay's points scored at home this year:

31
42
38
55
53
26
43

Guess which one of those numbers came from trying to contain Rodgers rather than sell out for the rush.

Caller :What about Gray and LGB

Bedard thinks Blount played well, run blocking was awful. 12 stuffed runs. Blount made yards where there were none. Bedard wants Gray to get snaps. Quicker around the end and hitting the hole than LGB

Awesome stuff. Thanks for posting!

That loss was predominantly on Brady and the offense with kudos to GB's pass rush & coverage.

Even Reiss had opinion on this last week

Petyr Baelish (King's Landing)

Hi Mike, what do you think about some recent commentary on Josh Boyer? Not too keep bringing up old storylines, but basically some are saying that the coaching is a detriment not a benefit, and secondary guys the Pats draft have bad mechanics/tendencies. Do you buy it? Can the same be said for WRs and Chad O'Shea by the same logic? Thanks,

Mike

I look at it differently, Petyr. But I'll start with this: I'm not a coach, nor am I a scout, so my opinion when it comes to fundamentals and techniques should be placed into that context. What stands out to me, in this situation, is the reactive nature of much of the commentary that follows a game. After a loss, it trends negative. After a win, it trends positive. So, if the Patriots pulled out that game against Green Bay, are we even talking about Boyer? I don't think so. I think all of us, including myself, fall into this trap from time to time when the commentary is swayed by the end result. Look, the week before, Logan Ryan had an INT and Darrelle Revis was calling this the best secondary he's ever played on. So which one is it? I'm not saying Bill Belichick has all the answers, but in this case, I do mostly defer to him: If he feels the CBs are being coached up well -- and let's not forget he himself is a big part of coaching them with his hands-on technique -- I tend to agree. This isn't to slam any other reporters or sports media entertainers out there. It's just my honest opinion.

That's all fine - I just think Reiss criticizing a fellow media member in this case makes him come off as insecure. Bedard's job is to perform analysis. If I had a dollar for every time Reiss told us "I'm not a scout", I'd be a rich man - he doesn't have to put his opinion on the line the way Bedard is demanded to. Their jobs & roles are different.
