Will Tyms see the field?

I like Tyms but one TD catch does not a career make

This is true, but at the same time he actually caught it. Just the fact that we have a WR who can make that play is a really encouraging sign, even if he hasn't proven that he can do it consistently. As much hope as I continue to hold out for Dobson, I don't really care which WR on the roster evolves into that guy, as long as someone does. It's an element that this offense has been missing for a long time and that we've repeatedly failed at addressing in FA, and could very well be the missing piece that makes this offense elite again.*

*as always, pending the line's ability to keep Brady upright. Even after two good weeks, this is still a necessary disclaimer IMO.

Besides very to below average defenses in '10, '11, '12 and '13 if you look at the various reasons why this team has not scored big in decisive games it's pretty simple...

1)2007: Giants mad pass rush and play deep vs Moss. Give WW the dink n dunk catches. Pats don't like to run the ball so let 'em.
2) 2010 Jets: Flood the middle of the field as they do not have any deep threats. Average running game.
3) 2011 Giants: No Gronk. lack of a deep threat. Average running game.
4) 2012 Ravens: See above.
5) 2013 Broncos: See above.

To your point. They can throw to the middle to Gronk and JE and Amendola and to the outside with LaFell and <gulp> Dobson. If Tyms can contine to progress, they do have the deep threat which opens a ton for this offense.

Don't be so negative, there is upside here. BB bringing him on in May while knowing he was going to serve a 4 game suspension and then cutting Thompkins to bring him up should say enough.

He has the raw talent, now let's see if he can turn into a consistent WR

Great catch by Tyms. His skill set fits our need.

For those who were bashing Tyms, haha

HE was only in for 8 plays vs buff but i didn't even expect to see him over dobson. Something is going on with Dobson. Have no idea what..

I think they are easing him in slowly. Dobson has been productive when targeted. He just needs more targets.

How much more slowly does he need? Gronk was eased in slowly and look at how many snaps he is playing now.

Dobson didn't see the field after his false start penalty. Tyms only saw one snap after that too.

Dobson's foot is way more dangerous of being reinjured compared to gronks knee. Plus, while the offense seems to achieved top of the league status once again, we can afford to slowly move in Dobson and even Tyms. Just my thoughts.

I'm not a huge tymes guy. I called him a jag in last weeks game thread, but the fact that Tom even let that ball fly into triple coverage should tell you everything you need to know so far.

I will give it 2 more weeks...still a ghost after that? Won't be a factor at all this year...

Oh he will play in the jets game..and have 1 catch for 3 yards.

How about another play action TD pass???

We're on to the Jets. In this context, that means that they'll have to keep a safety deep to give help to the no-name cornerback that has the misfortune of having to keep track of Tyms.

If Gronk is on the field, that's four defenders covering two guys.

Somebody is open.

You guys do know that because you're all excited about him and making a fuss he's doomed to be inactive and Amendola will put up an 11 catch 150 yard 2 TD performance, just to **** with everyone, right?

The entire purpose of our offense is to **** with any potential fantasy owners picking up one of our players. BB hates stats!

What makes you "not a tyms guy"? Have you followed his career? Did you watch him when he was cut by 2 other teams? I'm just curious, I didn't know much about Tyms until I put the time in researching him. I've watched a lot of Youtube videos of him working out and practicing. Did he do something in the preseason to make you think like this? BB gushes over him, he said he is one of the first guys in the building every day .... It shows he has the fire and drive to keep working hard, he wants to be something in the NFL and going back to preseason he has done everything the Pats have asked.

BB has a man crush on Tyms, have you seen some of his quotes? He'll be active

And here I thought my post was obvious sarcasm when I said Amendola would have 11 catches. Oh well.
