Since the Pats last won, only 7 teams have won it in 9 years (Pittsburgh, Indy, Giants, Saints, Packers, Ravens, and Seahawks). So over 3/4 of the league are in the same spot that the Pats are and they were within one minute of winning two more Super Bowls (and before you blame McDaniels for them he wasn't responsible for David Tyre making a lucky catch or the defense letting Manning connect for a critical 30 yard pass to Mario Manningham on final Giants' drives).

Obrien was OC in SB46

Or maybe Dobson said or did something worth a deactivation. Why are people automatically putting this on McDaniels?

Because he has a history of alienating players and running them out of town, probably. It's the more likely possibility because it's consistent with how he historically handles personnel.

I like McDaniels as an Xs and Os guy- I think he's a good coordinator in that respect. But he's a terrible manager of personnel, which he could hardly have demonstrated more thoroughly in Denver if that had been his stated goal.

If his inability to manage people is being allowed to become a problem here--and this is a pretty troubling indication to that effect--then that definitely worries me.

Agreed, he's trying to be BB, but he's not.

Saying that we all want to yell at Josh, but Dobson has to know his role and keep quiet. This had to be done

You are right. But McDaniels was a consultant that post season because O'Brien had already taken the Penn State job.

Yeah, people think Brady hates McDaniels. From most reports, he is closer to McDaniels than he ever was with either O'Brien (who he had a famous fight with on the sideline) and Weis.

Sounds like a root cause

Well, he knows a lot about losing playoff games.

So does Brady and Belichick. Why not call for them to be canned too. They didn't win a Super Bowl when McDaniels went to Denver. Their only Super Bowl appearances since Charlie left was when McDaniels was in house. Maybe it is Belichick and Brady who are the problem.

Just using your logic.

You know how this place is after a loss, especially one like last Monday night.

But some have guys like Peyton Manning and Drew Brees and haven't had much more success than the Pats over the last 10 years. Other than Montana, no other QB in the greatest of all time discussion have more rings than Brady.

People act like having greatest of all time QBs guarantee Super Bowls. Other than Montana, the opposite can be argued.

And we're quick to point out those teams' shortcomings when they ultimately fall short of the goal. With the Patriots, a lot of us can't do that. Why that is, I'll never know. But ten years ago, you would have laughed at the post I quoted. Why? Because Colts fans made those posts. When you have the GOAT at the most important position, you should not be satisfied with being a conference runner up. That's the **** that Jets fans celebrate. It's pathetic.

In contrast, Elway has gone all out to surround Manning with championship caliber talent, and he's thriving at an older age than Brady. Brady, on the other hand, has been dealt possibly the worst WR corps in the NFL (and probably his career) behind a **** sandwich of an offensive line. But hey, we competed for AFC Championships (and lost) recently... right?

Right.

First Zolak said Dobson wasn't getting it done in practice, now this rumor.

Why can't people just accept that they game planned to go pass heavy against KC, so sitting their best two outside WR was the logical thing to do.

Elway knows from personal experince that at the age of 37-38 your star QB needs to have a stacked team around him to win a championship. That's exactly what he is doing for manning.

On the other hand, belichick is trying to do his best jimmy johnson impersonation and trade away old players. Logic tells me that that only works if you are trying to eatablish a dynasty, not if you areMat the tail end of your dynasty and going for broke in the final years of your HOF QB's career.

The Pats were one minute away from winning two more Super Bowls. Every single one of their Super Bowls came down to the last minute or so. They could have easily been 5-0 or 0-5 in Super Bowls. All the sudden people are acting like the Pats have never even sniffed a Super Bowl.

Elway inherited a lot of the stars on his team. Both Thomas, Clady, Von Miller, etc. Also, his strategy this offseason has yet to show that will win them a Super Bowl and whether the Pats won't win the Super Bowl.

He is at fault there, but who's game plan was that?

All game plans go through Belichick. So both McDaniels and Belichick.

Anything involving Brady even indirectly must be ground down to a nub

-Dobson healthy
-Dobson scratched two consecutive games
-NE dressing only 3 WRs for the KC game......(is that a first?)
-Amendola having horrendous season/blanked in consecutive games/dresses every game (I'd be pissed too being benched behind DA)
-Media report of Dobson/McDaniels conflict
I accept it/I believe it/And based on past Welker benching, the Pats have a track record in this dept.
In this instance I say one plus one does equal two :)
PS....I freakin dropped Brady from my fantasy team today....I'm so ashamed....but ..."We're on to Week 5"....as the Hoodie says

I don't think a player should get into a shouting match with a coach. That said, we've all seen what our OC can be like. He cursed his players out like a crazy person live on nation TV. He had Steve Scarnecchia, the son of Dante, film a 49ers walk-through. When it came out, we got this rouge employee BS about Scarnechia. Even if you buy his excuse, remember his infamous line about the difference in the Patriots 'spygate' and his own. About the Patriots situation: "That was practiced, that was coached, that was worked on." Bilicheck forgiving him doesn't change that he said it. Threw the Patriots under the bus. Those comments reopened the spygate wounds for a good while.

Multiple coaches and players spoke out against him. Stories about Brady not talking to him for about a month. Hillis. Marshall. Cutler. Mike Nolan, who ran the defense for McDaneils, had to part ways with the Broncos because he couldn't get along with McDaniels.

He ran a lot of people off from Denver, when he had full control. He acted like a megalomaniac.

So maybe Dobson has went from never having issues through all of his college career and a full season as a pro to an 'immature' player. Or maybe McDaniels is doing what he has done time and time again. Believe whatever you want.

Of course Marshall wanted out long before McDaniels ever got to Denver, Cutler was pissed off before McDaniels got to Denver, Hillis has bounced around all over the league, and Nolan has had issues in multiple locations, but let's ignore that stuff, because it undercuts our goals. We've got a chance to complain about an offensive coordinator!

What's with Dobson's attitude problem? Do you have any insight in this?

Andy, I'm aware of the report, citing an anonymous source, that Dobson might have "mouthed off" to Josh McDaniels. I don't know if that is true, but two people I trust who I believe are very close to that situation told me to be careful with that information. My understanding is that Dobson's lack of action is more football-based. Struggling to get open in practice. Don't do well in practice, hard to have confidence to put the player in a game. Take that for what it's worth, but that's the intel I have.
