Bedard: Offensive Line Coach Unpopular with Players

If DeGagglia is the one responsible for starting Jordan Devey, then I must say I have little faith in his evaluation skills as an O line co-ordinator. I do not KNOW this for a fact though, and to tell the truth, I always come back to the little genius in his own mind,McDuncials.

You all saw the play inside the five on third down last week...the little general PULLS Gronk off the field and calls a passing play. if the clock had not wound down they wouldn't have called a TO...time back in, Gronk comes in...TD.

WHY ON THIS GREEN EARTH would an OC REMOVE a 6'7 all pro weapon on 3rd and short inside the five, especially with the problems Brady has right now with his receivers?

Solder whiffed a couple of blocks that hurt the offense.Seabass was in and out with soem kind of problem and wasn't his usual dominating self.Cannon was also up and down all game but Connolly played pretty well. Devey however is a sub-JAG POS neverwas/never will be every single play he was in for. WHO is responsible for playing this turd? ....and please, enough with the admonishments, I'm blunt. He SUCKS. If you can't see that, you are either blind or don't know anything about the function of an offensive lineman.

My preference going forward, and the lineup I'm prepared to live with no matter how shaky it is jumping of is left tackle Nate Solder, left guard Marcus Cannon, center Bryan Stork, right guard Dan Connolly, and right tackle Sebastian Vollmer.

Cut Devey and elevate ANYBODY with the skills to play in the NFL. This guy CANNOT.

PFF for what it's worth has reported that Brady had 2.57 seconds to throw his completions in the first 3 games of 2013. He has taken 2.65 seconds for his completions in 2014.

Brady had 3.57 seconds per sack in 2013, and 3.65 seconds per sack in 2014.

He has had slightly more time this year counter-intuitively. The disorganized newcomers are doing a slightly better job already!

Are you on drugs this week?

This is the type of brutal honesty that I appreciate.

Thank God I'm not going blind because I see the same pathetic offensive line performance not worthy of Tom Brady quarterbacked team. So Tom Brady took a home town discount for this crap?

I really don't think you can evaluate any coach on a few weeks of play, I will give him the season to show that he can get this group to play well and if he can't they can move on at that time becsause iyt certainly won't happen before then.

What the player's think doesn't matter, they are paid to perform and they don't get to evaluate their coach, that's Belichick's job.

There was a time when Joe Buck would announce the New England Patriots offensive pass play:

"Brady, pitching a tent back there."

Now:

The only real question these days is if he’ll survive the next hit.

I don't think anyone can argue this OL is playing well, they aren't, however we really don't know what the reasons are yet and it will take some time for things to play out to the point where we have a real idea of why they are having problems. Hopefully they get it together and we don't end up having to hash it out over and over and over, we'll see, they certainly have a serious test coming this week in KC.

My concern is that the offensive line regressed in week 3 against one of the worst teams in the NFL after the week 1 second half debacle in Miami.

Get used to it son. The Good ones are not here in perpetuity.

For some damn reason, YOU seem to feel that this Belichick fellow, should have taken an... ahem, "Proper 7-8 years" to rebuild, while using a "Proper 3-4 years of 5-11 seasons" according to hallowed history, to restock the roster with high draft pick talent.

YOU seem to be highly offended, that this upstart Belichick clown, has the effrontery to be doing it in only 4-5 years. He is juggling players like mad, reconstructing entire squads on the fly, while winning 11 or more games a season, and with never an "Expected and Proper" losing season.

Frankly, that is his Genius on display.

BB and Brady are making history; and don' t give a fig about your... cough, cough, "Proper Hallowed Opinion".

Get used to it, son.

Tom Brady should be relegated to trash on the offensive line in the twilight of his career. Gotcha!

Instead of pissing away draft picks on cornerbacks (Wheatley, Wilhite. Butler, Dowling), the New England Patriots could have spared at least a couple quality draft selections on interior offensive lineman. To add insult to the defensive back draft busts, the New England Patriots spent the vast majority of salary cap dollars this offseason on Revis, Browner, Chung. Meanwhile, the New England Patriots offense is left with spare change.

You are the clown putting words in other poster's mouths.

Genius does not allow a franchise quarterback to get killed.

You can't even get your facts straight, when players where drafted (Light), what position players played last season (Cannon).

Get used to it, son.
You offer nothing informative.

My concern is that the offensive line regressed in week 3 against one of the worst teams in the NFL after the week 1 second half debacle in Miami.

I think the offense is so dysfunctional right now that it is really hard to assess the blame, although the OL certainly looks to be right at the heart of the matter, however I really need to see quite a bit more to have a real sense of what their problems are. they haven't even started to hit the tough part of the schedule so i will wait to see how they evolve---or fail to---and go from there. It's really hard to tell what kind of team this can be right now, so I am going to be patient with them and see how it works out?

IMO the jury is still out on whether or not DeGuglielmo is the cause of this problem, as it seems more complicated that this... didn't many of us used to believe that players play and coaches coach??

That idiot Benz continues to try to create controversy on WEEI, by finding hidden meanings of a Karen Gauregian article... finding meaning in innocuous comments.

When DeGuglielmo was the offensive line coach the Giants made the playoffs four consecutive years, won a Super Bowl (XLII),and set a franchise record for rushing yards (2,518) and yards per carry (5.0) in 2008.

In 2011 he held the same job for the Miami Dolphins where in 2011 when they rushed for 1,987 in what was also Reggie Bush's first 1,000 yard season.

He has the pedigree, now it is being reported he is not "nice" or abrasive. Dante was a hard driving, big cussing man.. Scar had the rep and cache, to just take over and assume that everything will be the same without some bumps in the road is folly.

I grow weary of your smarmy, supercilious, comments.

Quit posting silliness about an o-line that everyone knows is in a state of disarray. You'll get less of it that way. I grow weary of hearing gibberish about this being the plan.

Well this is believe. Regardless even if they don’t like this guy it does not excuse their horrendous play out there. All these guy have to do is block. Nothng else. It appears these guys cannot pysically do it. Not sure having a better coach helps that.

Belichick has said this guy is a good coach. Mike reiss says he feels the problem with the o-line is the lack of communication. With a new line coach and mankins gone, it will take some time for them to gel as a unit.

BB will get this fixed sooner rather than later. I'm not saying that because I'm a blind homer. Anyone who has watched BB over the years knows that he is all about winning and is totally miserable when the team loses.

So if it means making a trade, firing the OL coach, begging Scar to come back, whatever the fix is, he will do everythng he can to get it done.

I'm overwhelmed by the meaningless of these numbers in a vacuum. Is your final statement sarcasm?

Isn't this the OL that played for the end of the Oakland game?

You are venting a lot, only to agree with Belichick. I don't agree. I would switch he guards and have Cannon at RG.
======

Posters haven't recovered from losing Mankins. We have said ABW (anybody but Wendell) and now ABD. I suspect that if Kline started instead of Devey, the whining would have been the same.

In the end, most of us are complaining because Belichick chose to start Devey instead of Wendell or Kline.
Stork wasn't available.

An abrasive personality? Good god, we've never seen such a thing in a coach around here!
