Patriots are signing Patrick Chung

Maybe with an ACTUAL secondary, chung can be asked to do less and play to his strengths as a guy who just hits opposing players.

I mean, we need a SS...and theres no telling that Harmon is your guy. Tavon wilson definitely isnt.

I have to see how much the Pats paid him before forming an opinion. He certainly isn't a great player, but ads depth off the bench.

Chung was asked to play FS for the Patriots, his best work was always up near the LOS. Hope he isn't asked to cover too much.

It was a terrible call.

They should never ever called that play. The team was very nervous, not in the same page, but going to halftime with only 7x3 in the scoreboard you can manage that in the locker room. Pretty manageable scoreboard.

14 x 3 against that defense though, is a different story.

The worst call I ever seen. Tragic.

The call was the right one. Had he held on he had space and a blocker to the right. Just bad execution.

I might be goofing up the years, but it wasn't long ago that BB essentially fired the entire defensive backfield of starters and thought it would be better to let a seventh-round converted quarterback play DB than any of the low-round safety draft picks.

Wasn't Chung in that group?

I'm not as high on Harmon's rookie season as some others here. That said, I think he looked a lot more competent than Chung did in his previous season here. He took better angles and was much more solid in coverage for the most part. I still hope we draft a bigger SS/LB hybrid like Shazier or KPL, though.

Chung is tough and very good on Special Teams. He provides us good depth in case of injuries. There's nothing i don't like about re-signing Chung

Agreed. He's fine as a 3rd/4th safety/ST-er and assume he will be paid accordingly. Not fine as a starter.

Funny, funny thread. I love the hatred people get for players and entitled attitude that we must have 53 all pros or someone is an idiot.
Chung is already on the bubble at best to make the team. If we end up with Chung as the 4th safety who will either be inactive most games or active just for special teams, he will be an asset.
This is actually a good signing if you have proper perspective. The only way Chung is here is if he is playing a role that he would actually be very good compared to what most teams trot out there for that role.
OK, the rest of you can go back to telling everyone how stupid this move would be if we signed him for big money, and guaranteed a roster spot and starting job. Carry on. (BTW, if he were to somehow end up playing a lot, the rippers would be right)

One can only hope that NEVER happens and you have been wrong before AJ.

The opening of this thread is the funniest Ever...Chung should be on stage he knows how to make people laugh.:D

Who hasn't been wrong before? What a weird comment.

Unlike Tavon Wilson and Nate Ebner, Chung could come into a game and play decent safety for a few plays.

Just when I thought the coast was clear the Chung Supporters are coming out of the woodwork oh well.:snob:

Funny, I haven't seen a post in support of Chung.

Chung can capably play a specific role as a safety in run support. Re: coverage, he's most likely worse than Tavon (they both blow a ton of coverages, but at least Tavon has range that Chung doesn't).
