Darrelle Revis Rumors and Speculation

Some of the top numbers being thrown around for Revis($98 million) are insane. I'm just not sure if any CB, not matter how good, is worth that much money.

If you told me adding Revis would solve most of our problems and send us to a Superbowl, I would be all for it, but even if we solidify that position, we won't be close to that team. We have a lot of other areas where we need good players, not just depth fillers and they're going to cost money too.

I wouldn't be cool with paying that much for him. Honestly, I'd walk away from that. If he comes here he's going to have to settle on a smaller contract.

Wilfork, Mankins, Brady, Moss, Gronk, Hernandez and more say Hi

Why do fans think the pats are cheap? If a player fits their system and is very good if not the best...they pay top $$. People still don't realize this?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but not a single one of those guys were UFA's when the Patriots signed them.

Also, could you please tell me where I said the Patriots were cheap? I chose my words very carefully and I never said they were cheap. What I said is that they do not pay top dollar to anyone. The above list of players you mentioned only supports my point. None of those players are the highest paid at their position, so thank you for backing me up.

Depends how it's structured. The Pats could sign him and still add good players if he doesn't eat up too much cap spaci in the first couple of years.

Cousins, I have issue thinking the Pats will spend that much on Revis. I love the dream but it won't happen. This is not the Pats philosophy. I hope I am wrong. There is a bidding war as we speak.

I would rather do this. Let's sign Brandon Browner on a one year and put him at SS after his 4 game hiatus. He had a miraculous 23 PD in 2011. Give Logan Ryan the keys to the car and go. Browner is one of the best hitting and covering big corners and at 6'3" and 230lbs he lays the wood. Now I want Julius Peppers and Jared Allen to rotate with Chandler Jones and move Ninkovitch to MLB.

If VW and Tommy Kelly are back and Nink in the middle, you have an upgrade on our run "D". Now you have a rotation better than any(including the Broncos) to get to Peyton. The three kid DT's are a great rotation there.

Pressure on the QB makes a CB Pro Bowl caliber.

Yeah, Ryan and Dennard on Thomas and Thomas in a playoff game. I'm sure that'll turn out well.

Browner is one bad night away from a year-long ban, too. No thanks.

His last contract was 6/$96, so those numbers aren't quite as insane as you may think.

I expect a contract of 4 years, $60 million with a couple of "no way he stays past year 4" years tacked onto the end bringing the total value to well into the $90's.

What I said is that they do not pay top dollar to anyone.

Anyone...so it doesn't have to be UFAs like you are now adding.

All-Pro Rob Gronkowski agreed Friday to a six-year, $53 million extension with the New England Patriots, the richest contract for a tight end in NFL history.

No they never pay "top" dollar to anyone. Richest contract for a TE means it's not top dollar.

The New England Patriots have paid big money to their big man in the middle by inking nose tackle Vince Wilfork to an extension a league source said is worth $40 million over five years.

The deal, which includes an $18 million signing bonus and $25 million guaranteed, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports, makes Wilfork the highest-paid nose tackle in the NFL. It also provides him the long-term security he desires and ensures the Patriots -- hurt by the departures of several impact players in recent years -- retain a key part of their defense

Highest paid NT at the time....na that's not top dollar

Oh he was. I can keep going with the list but why should i? Pats never paid top dollar to anyone so...

I'll give you Wilfork, but you can't have Gronkowski.

When news dropped that Rob Gronkowski signed a 6-year, 54 million extension, he was quickly dubbed the highest-paid tight end in the history of the NFL.

Not so fast.

A closer look at Gronk's contract, thanks to the Globe's Greg Bedard, shows that Rob Gronkowski is actually the fifth-highest paid tight end in the league.

OK so that's one player which the Patriots have made the top paid in his position. Any others? Or is it 1 player during the past decade-plus? I don't think Adelius Thomas was, though I certainly can't say I know for sure.

As proven to you above, they have. Several times.

See, you are stupid.

Dude, you need to relax. I like the fact that I was wrong because IMHO that increases the chances they get Revis.

I don't know if the Picture is real, but plenty of other people are claiming to have seen Revis at Logan around 4:05-4:15 EST .. FWIW

Highly doubt it. RT @PatriotsDasein: @SuperBiasedNFL any legitimacy to this pic, @Nick_Underhill?

We are being schooled i think

Clearly fake.

Revis isn't that tall and why would he be going through luggage with regular passengers?

That's worse than "HEY LOOK IT'S MIKE WALLACE IN PATS GEAR!!!" last year :p
