Are we out of the Playoffs if we lose the next 2 games?

If thats the case then I love it, The reason being this would imply that the Pats have to play with playoff intensity in the next two games, something which this team has not done at the end of regular season in a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time. Any one remember the last time a Brady led Patriots team was fighting for a playoff spot in the last two weeks of the season?

Even if they lose both remaining games they have a good shot at a wildcard spot.

Think I saw somewhere that we have a 99.4 % chance to reach the playoffs.

If we did, actually a decent chance of happening now. Baltimore wins their division if they beat us and Cincy. Both 10-6. Balt with the sweep head to head. Miami would win our division if they win out because of better div. record. Miamia is at Buffalo this week and hosts the Jesters to close the season. Certainly, two winnable games. KC has a better record for top wild-card. A Cincy win over Minny at home gives them 10 wins. We'd tie them for 2nd wild-card but they beat us head to head.

I think we're going to lose at Baltimore this week and beat Buffalo to win the division though.

If we Loose to Ravens then we would have to win the last to get in. Ravens and Bengals would both have tie breaker AND if we Loose Miami, they would be 4-2 in div, where we would be 3-3. So Patriots would be out.

And I do beleave Ravens is a must win, yes we have a chance more, but in the last vs Bills - With Miami vs Jets.. All 3 teams would love to "kick" Patriots Down from the division throne. Jets and Rex would loose on purpose if the that meant Patriots was out also...

The Ravens and Dolphins must go 4-0, the pats have to go 0-2. don't see it happening.

If the Pats lose three in a row and get in, it isn't promising for them to do much of anything in the playoffs. If they can't beat Buffalo at home, then they have no right to be in the playoffs

Breaking it down to a spread sheet at this point is dumb. Miami has two easy games. We are going to lose at Baltimore. Very unlikely we lose to Buffalo at home. But, we're going to have to sweat out a last game of the season to make the playoffs.

Yeah, and that kind of stinks. Think about this:

- 8:00pm Thursday - NE was the #2 seed, coming off a couple of dramatic wins

- 11:30pm Thursday - Denver loses to SD, meaning NE has control over their own destiny for the #1 seed

~ 3:45pm Sunday - NE takes the lead over Miami late in the game

~ 3:55pm Sunday - Miami retakes the lead over NE

~ 4:05pm Sunday - NE's rally falls short, loses the game, and now Cincy was on track for the #2 seed

- 11:30pm Sunday - Cincy loses, NE back on track for #2 seed, but really wanting Baltimore to lose on Monday to clinch a playoff spot

- 11:30pm Sunday - Detroit leads in the final minute, but Baltimore hits a freaking 61 yard field goal to win the game

And now we are in the position where NE needs, really, to win one of the next two games to make the playoffs. They *SHOULD* beat Buffalo, but you never know with a divisional game. I think Miami probably goes 2-0. Baltimore probably will as well, since they have NE at home and then Cincy, who will be tough.

What a wild ride this season has been.

What if we win the next 2 and Denver chokes against Houston or Oakland (rested players for 2nd half of that game maybe)?

Are we then in 1st?

Youve basically contradicted yourself.

Yes, Miami has 2 easy games and thats why FO has projected them as the #6 seed and Balt is out. Anything can happen.

I think we need to have KC lose a game as well for us to get the #1 seed.

Baltimore isn't out if they win their last two. They win their division. And, if you put the rest of my post in there, I said that it's very unlikely we lost at home.

And, we don't get the 1 seed unless KC and Denver each lose a game if we win out. If Denver loses a game. KC can win the division at 13-3 and top seed.

No, KC wins the AFC West and gets the #1 seed if they win out. The Pats need KC to lose a game too. The Pats have the tiebreaker with KC because of record against common opponents.

Outliers: 1) Gaining the#1 seed. It is just unrealistic at this point. Possible? Sure it is not impossible but a definite and significant outlier. 2) The Patriots losing the next 2, the Phins/Ravens going 4-0, Patriots missing the playoffs is also a marked outlier. Possible? Sure. Probably more possible than outlier 1.

Likelihoods: There are two and they are all based upon Sunday's outcome: Win in Baltimore and the coveted bye/#2 is likeliest ours. Lose and the #3 is likeliest, #4 seed being the next likeliest.

Have we ever lost 3 straight games in the Brady/Belichick era?

I actually think Houston has a decent shot at beating Denver if they start Schaub. He and Andre Johnson torched them last year. Watt could be huge in that game as well. This will essentially be their last shot of enjoying something about this season.

they are talented on defense and wade phillips has usually given manning trouble.Unfortunately , they have no heart left and already in Uhaul mode to make this a game.
