Trying to run a slant, getting jammed and being in the way of the defender chasing the inside guy

Gronk got jammed alot today. Ugly.

Thanks. With no tv volume, it just looked like he was being maimed.

I'm not going to get into the whole thing, but I had to respond to this....

I didn't call the entire team a steaming turd, and I appreciate the difficult position the defense was in today. I was referring specifically to the offense, which has been a steaming turd for much of this season.

Ok, now for thread ignore.

Tom brady inaccurate deep ball passing is leaving points on the field and costing games. Dobson could have won the game if brady didn't throw it away(my respect for brady leads me to think it was a throw away)

They aren't a complete joke of a team.

The Mark Sanchez story on repeat? Defense anchored by very good defensive line with a rookie QB on offense with the same brazen (buffoonish) head coach.

Hopefully it has the same ending in 2 years, although I'd take an acceleration to the same ending~

Is there something wrong with Ridley I don't see. I prefer him to Bolden.

Re: Force the ball to Gronk much?

I think you're being hard on the defense. Aside from the first drive or so, I thought they played very well considering the limitations forced upon them. Defense kept us in that game.

The Jets aren't exactly the Broncos on offense...

Meh

Jets are not winning anything this year and won't even make the playoffs. Not sour grapes but a fact. We should probably not be surprised when a team that is struggling on offense plays a team with solid defense on their own field and losses. One call turned the tide on this game. Brady would have gotten the ball on about the 50 yard line and I believe the offense would have been able to get within FG range and turn the game over to Ghost who has been on fire this season.

At the end of the day, and while this loss sucks somehow they are still 5-2 with a pathetic offense and a defense that has lost its best players at every position. Pats have 9 games left and I can see them winning the next 6 of the next 9 games.

Belichick is absolutely right. They blew the call.

The rule is that Team B players (those not on the line of scrimmage) cannot push.

Jones was on the line of scrimmage. His hand was down at the snap.

That's second level. Belichick is right.

You need to see the entire rule.

How reassuring.

should have won it without the call. Another poor game largely rom O line. Still drops and mi cues at receiver.

Move onward. looking back at this achieves nothing.

Re: Force the ball to Gronk much?

Brady seemed like he had his blinders on all game for anyone but Gronk. For me it was reminiscent of the Randy Moss days. I also noticed quite a few bad outside throws. KT and Dobson have been getting better and better. Dobson got some looks but KT didn't. Also, maybe the deep ball just isn't in Brady's best interests at this point in his career.

Gronk was targeted 17 times. The next closest was Edelman and Dobson at 7. Brady needs to pull his lips off Gronks butt and throw to the others too.

I don't think Jones was getting cute. No one would be dumb enough from that range, to try an be cute. I honestly think the guy never heard of the rule.

I think he did what he was coached to do.

"It looks to easy" we've heard a lot with Brady and Pats O, atm it looks so fecking hard to move the ball...sure we have drops, wrong routes and poor throws from Tom but our play calling has to improve...shorter throws, plays where we can get some YAC...

I'm not sure how anyone can get down on this defense. They held the Jets to 20 points in regulation (7 from the pick 6 by Brady) and they scored 7 on the pick 6 by Ryan. That's 13 points net. I'd take that every game going forward.

Also, it's not like the offense did the defense any favors consistently forcing them to defend shorter fields.

The bottom line is that if Brady and the offensive line play better this game is over.

Where did you get the bolded from? Greg Bedard say's that that line is NOT in the rule book.

He didn't do anything wrong. Florio is wrong.

Here's the full rule, not just the part that let's one disagree with BB:

Team B players cannot push teammates on the line of scrimmage into the offensive formation

Chris Jones started from the LOS, there's no way to interpret him as a "Team B" or "second level" player. It was a bad call, but not uniquely influencing the outcome of the game.

today's performance was definitely disappointing.

1) OL gave up way too many hits to Brady
2) Jets won the line of scrimmage for most of the day on both sides of the ball.
3) The times Brady had time to throw he ended up overthrowing quite a few times. Can't tell from TV if guys just couldn't get open, but you would expect Brady to be more accurate than what he showed today.
4) Injuries to D finally caught up to them. Some good plays here and there but far too inconsistent.
5) Offense got a big weapon back today but is still FAR from where needs to be.
