Patriots Sign Tim Tebow

The media circus he brings, and rabid fanbase is what causes this.

That, and it's always newsworthy when a team adds the worst QB of all time to their roster.

Time to become a Vikes fan!

Re: Enough about Tim Tebow, what do YOU think about Tim Tebow?

I have mixed views on Tebow. I think, from all I can tell, that he's a good guy and a terrific teammate. Every quote from a teammate that I've ever seen or heard expresses a universal opinion: Tebow is a great leader. He brings lots of qualities to a football team - leadership, toughness, character, etc., that you want.

But as a QB he just isn't very good. He's not nearly as bad as some make him out to be, and he does do some things really well (like run the ball and inspire his team). But as a thrower, he's just not very good. Very inaccurate and not the best decision-maker. At this level that's very hard to overcome. He can't just "out-athlete" guys like he could in college.

But he's a hard-worker and I expect, with good coaching, that he can improve. Obviously he isn't going to put Tom Brady on the bench, and he probably won't even give Mallett a scare for the #2 job. I think he is the #3 that they can use a few times a game in different situations to run or whatever. But that's about it. If they think he's better than Kafka, fine with me.

Re: Enough about Tim Tebow, what do YOU think about Tim Tebow?

Just wait until the Tebowites invade the board. Every little critique of Brady will be an opportunity for them to suggest putting Tebow in. Patriots boards are about to be invaded.:(

In an extremely slow offseason, this thread has well over 400 posts, and they're not from new people signing up to venerate Tebow. All the angst over a player who'll apparently be competing for the QB3 job, while amusing, is really unwarranted.

The "angst" is because of people like you who talk out of one side of their mouths saying he's "just a QB3" but then say he's a successful, winning NFL QB with a playoff win. The only way to reconcile these viewpoints is that you're being very patient until Tebow is again an NFL starting QB and winning games. Because it makes zero rational sense to be content with a QB you call successful to be sitting on the bench in perpetuity. Being on the Pats with zero shot to see games as a starter for several years alone is a detriment to someone you consider a successful QB. Shouldn't he be out there, winning games?

The Tebow-Pats fans must be having a huge self mind-**** right now. "He's such a winner, he should be playing! But Brady and... uhhh... *head explodes*"

This situation is completely different than Tebow was in either in Denver or New York. In those spots it was very possible that Tebow was actually better than the starter (Orton or Sanchez). So fans were right to clamor for Tebow to at least get an opportunity to play, especially when the starter stunk it up (which they did).

Here, the GOAT, playing at the peak of his powers, is at the helm. Not a single soul on planet earth that has any intelligence whatsoever believes Tim Tebow is a better QB than Tom Brady. Not even Tebow believes that. So yeah, some crazies may call for Tebow to replace Brady, but that is sheer lunacy, and everyone will know it as such.

In Denver and NY....the clamoring was far from lunacy...it carried weight because it was legitimate.

On media presence here, Belichick says, "Hopefully there will be more for the games on Sunday."

See, BB's taking it in fun. :D

Crap, I ain't gonna read through this thread just to comment on Tebow.

I think he is here to keep Gronk in line. Gronk needs a buddy that is his age and not a party manimal.

FWIW, remember that Hernandez was one of Tebow's favorite targets at Florida. . . .

I don't defend Deus too often here, but he's right on in this case. There's no contradiction. Tebow bashers call him "horrible" and even "the worst QB in the world", etc. He's not a good passer, but he is a pretty decent QUARTERBACK, when everything is taken into account - passing, running, leadership, etc. He's not great, but he's better than a lot of guys out there. Teams don't want Tebow because he brings with him the zealous Tebowites that'll clamor for him to be in the starting role, and most teams don't have a starting QB that is just a rock-solid sure thing. And thus they don't want to deal with all that. And/or they don't have a high opinion of Tebow. Probably some of both.

But if Tebow is better than Kafka, isn't it in the best interests of the Patriots to improve the QB3 position, especially with a player who could also possibly help you elsewhere? There's zero concern about a QB controversy here, not with Tom Brady as your starter. So something that would concern other teams is no issue here.

Deus is looking out for the interests of his favorite team, the New England Patriots. He is not looking out for the interests of Tim Tebow in particular. And if Tebow improves the team, even in a little way, it's worth having him here. Having a better QB3 on the bench is preferable to having a worse QB3 on the bench, no?

Your avatar sucks.

I am gonna let you know, the instant I give a rat's @$$ what you think of my Avatar. :)

my first thought was "oh...NE got a woodhead replacement"

You underestimate the power of the Patriots' locker room. If they don't want Tebow to attract any media, then he won't attract any media.

Oh, he'll attract media alright, but I think that the Patriots will be able to keep that at a minimum....a minimum for Tebow is still kind of too much. Never understood the media's obsession with the man myself. If Tebow does NOTHING one week, ESPN and others will mention THAT. No way to get around it.

Re: Enough about Tim Tebow, what do YOU think about Tim Tebow?

When the Pats played Denver in the playoffs a couple of years ago, Channel 5 did a story on Tebow visiting a sick kid, then bringing the kid and his entire family to the game, limo and all.

After the Pats blew out the Broncos, Tebow referred to the kid and said he (Tebow) had a great day. How could it be anything but great?

I'm rooting for him to be good enough to make the team wherever the Pats think he should be, period. He's a good young man who does good things - you'll never see him in a gun incident or beating a woman or anything like that.

Good for him.

I just got an email from Patriots Pro Shop to preorder my Tebow Jersey..

We're all waiting on pins and needles.

Has the presser already happened? I thought it was at 11:45 but perhaps I was wrong...

Can't see him making this team at any position.

Re: Enough about Tim Tebow, what do YOU think about Tim Tebow?

Nice guy, little NFL ability.. BB and crew will minimize and control the distraction...

Might develop in this system, low risk possible high reward..

Cannot wait for the media to start talking crap about how Tom Brady is a great quarterback, but Tebow is a better person.. whatever that means.

BB just calmed me down a bit about this whole Tebow debacle with that presser. The media was shut down almost immediately and hopefully Tebowmania will die off soon enough.

"In Belichick We Trust" is proving to be true
