Speculated INJURY

Yeah I remember seeing him get injured in a ST play.

Pet peeves...

The worst for me is when people don't you periods or commas and their post is just one long sentence.

Hey, we live in an imperfect world with imperfect beings. On occasion, this board mirrors that truth. :)

maybe its a strain ACL, not a complete tear. I don't see someone walking off the field with a COMPLETE tear.

Maybe it's Lou Gehrig's disease.

I always thought it was funny how Lou Gehrig became really sick and just happened to contract the disease named after him.

Coincidence? I think not!

actually, the problem is that Caldwell and Gaffney are in the last year of our contracts. Next season, the only guy under contract I think will be Kevin Kight... Signing somebody in FA or drafting is a necessity, all the more so if our #1 prospect at WR is hurt.

I believe they are both signed for next year on 2 year contracts. At least one is.

"ACL or Achilles" this is the quote from the "draft expert".

How do you damage an "ACL or Achilles"? That's about a 2-3 foot long injury.

If you had some actual information, wouldn't that at least include which part of the body was injured?

Interesting that you should say that. I've never done the ACL but I've been with a lot of people who have, unfortunately. I can remember them saying that it was a lot less painful than you would imagine, but that the "pop" left no room for doubt. I remember one guy sitting in the back of the bus after being strapped up in the hospital and chatting away on his mobile to his clients. But perhaps he was just a lot braver than I would be in the same circumstances.

I imagine that competent physios can diagnose a torn ACL in about five seconds flat and that they wouldn't allow a player to sit around afterwards: it would, at the very least, be immediate full ice-packs and (if necessary) surgery soon after.
You know, now that you mention it it occurs to me that both times I tore my ACL at the same time I suffered a bilateral meniscus tear. Maybe a lot the pain was from that.

OK, so just forget what I said. :)

If Steve Nelson from WEEI saw him getting it wrapped, a member of our media knew he was hurt, and Scott Wright the draftnick says someone extremely close to the situation told him that the test came back bad....

I think it is safe to say from 3 sources that CJ is hurt, and the only question is the extent of the injury.

Do they use the same test for am ACL as they do for an achilles?

Either one takes the same recovery time?

that's the same thing I said. This time next year, Caldwell and Gaffney are FA. They are signed this year. Next year, they won't be.

Nelson said he saw the knee getting wrapped up.

The worst for me is when people don't you periods or commas and their post is just one long sentence. When I'm done reading it I feel like I'm out of breath and I can't remember what they were saying in the first place.

For me, its people using words like "you" for "use".;)

For others, perhaps fragmented sentences?

Wasn't sure of your meaning. They certainly didn't want them long term until they proved themselves.

Guys tweak knees all the time, get wrapped, iced.

I know it's off season, but if this draft board guy has a great source, knows he's missing the whole season, but doesn't even know what part of the body the injury's on, that's just bull****.

Ray, if three people say CJ is injured, I'm willing to bet, he's injured.

I e-mailed a top writer after the Colts game, and he said Chad did indeed hurt himself during the Colts game, but I didn't get the idea that it was serious enough for him to miss training camp. The fact that that guy said "ACL or achilles" hints that his "inside info" might not be too reliable, considering he doesn't even know the injury. And he mentioned himself that Belichick is quiet with injuries, so if he knew, why wouldn't he break the story before anyone else?
Plus, if it were an out-for-the-year knee injury, there is no way he could have gotten off the field without anyone noticing. He wouldn't have been able to walk at all, with a torn knee or achilles. I am quite sure he got hurt, but I don't think it will hurt him in next TC.

Let's remove "draft expert" Scott Wright from the equation for a moment, and pretend that today Steve Nelson (thanks dhamz) and a respected local journalist (thanks patsox23) independently reached the conclusion that Jackson had suffered a lower leg injury vs. Indy, severity unknown. Considering the credibility of Nelson, an eye-witness at the game, and the anonymous journalist, who has access to the locker room, that alone would be enough to drive speculation about Jackson's status. The fact that Scott Wright, without any knowledge of the other two sources, offered information on the same player, from the same game, and the same location of the injury (lower leg) establishes his credibility in my eyes. He has no affiliation with the team and does not live in the region, there was no hint on this board or in local print that such an injury had occurred, and it is impossible to believe that Nelson's passing comment on WEEI about our #4 WR, which escaped all of us until today, somehow drew the attention of an indifferent "draft expert". Therefore, I believe that Wright did in fact receive inside information about a lower leg injury to CJ, and the information, to a point, seems credible. The specific nature and severity of that injury remains unclear. But if Wright was correct on the player, the game, the location of injury, I see no reason to suspect him of lying about the severity. We can only hope that Wright's source exaggerated the severity- but that's not the kind of hope that helps a fan through the dark days until minicamp.

God I sure hope not I love Chad Jackson's potential I predicted we'd trade back up and nab him ever since I read he was writing plays down that BB gave him to memorize. My thought is this it's not fair damn't when people said he didn't grasp the playbook then how in the hell did he write the plays back on the board for BB. Everyone said he had a hurt hamstring we were being cautious then he's out on the kicking team and get's hurt god would it of killed us to send him on 10 deep routes in that colts game he had amazing hands in the combine big play capability in school. Why are we cursed at wideout since we traded deon and lost Givens I mean we lost fryar in the past Terry glenn cause he had sand in his vagina. I just want a deep threat that brady can throw too shoot give me Chris Chambers who i wanted to draft but everybody said no he's just another tony simmons. O god I hope he can participate in training camp and if he can't screw early round wide reciever were snake bitten in the early rounds. If were not gonna give the house for johnson i don't wanna see reciever in untill the third round unless Meachem or Stuckey is there looking at us.

GET WELL CHAD

YOU HAVE RECORDS TO BREAK AND THE HALL OF FAME TO BE ENSHRINED!

Does anyone really think that a player who could barely get on the field last season is going to be the reason the Patriots don't make next year successful? If not, let's not worry about whether Jackson had a hangnail or a leg severed at the knee. This team would dig up a corpse if that's what it took to find an acceptable replacement, so why not consider this a non-story until something concrete is learned and let the ferrets go do their jobs?

From a longterm perspective, an injury to Jackson matters. It's more about 2008 and 2009 than 2007. If as a fan you held out hope of Jackson overcoming his immaturity and developing into a go-to WR for Brady's prime years, those hopes would be dealt a crushing blow by a severe leg injury. It would effectively end any hope of Jackson being an impact starting WR for the next 2 years- one for rehab, the second to reacclimate and prove himself again athletically and as a teammate. It is very difficult to win a Sb without probowl caliber pass receiver, and this team currently does not have one. Hopefully one will emerge. But if this rumor is true, that player will almost definitely NOT be Jackson. Some never felt it would be, and I guess they would consider his absence no great loss.

If all these reporters saw the injury and it was as serious as stated, then that would mean they have no clue how to do their job. And seeing how the Boston media love to start building mountains out mole hills, I cannot believe they would all just miss it. While some out of town draft guy, would speak of it like it's old news.
If they can turn a Manny injury into 3 months of off season babble. They would jump on this story with as much venom.:(

You don't even know if it's an achilles or a knee!!

I'm willing to bet you lose a lot of money betting.
