Re: ****** Unofficial Patriots v. Texans post game thread ******

Felt like a strange game. houston really did nothing for 1 half and still was hanging around. Pats moved the ball easily still didnt pull away until the vereen pass.
Baltimore is going to be a very tough game without gronk and they seem to be like the giants of last yr and 2007 and the steelers of 2005 and flacco > schaub and that D and dean pees know us quite well as we do them. Big challenge.

oh..props to unsung players ..hooman and vereen.

Prevent defense made this a game when it shouldn't have been.

I guess we are finding out why gronk slid to the second round. Great talent that can't stay healthy (even though this injury was not his fault)

Anyone else catch Chung almost f'up the onside kick?

Yep. I am NOT going to miss that guy. The points at which we were happy to have him and then happy to have him back seem like ages ago.

Re: The Official Patriots vs Texans Divisional playoff Post game thread

I don't want to see those refs again during the playoffs, they gave every close call the the texans. I'm especially thinking of the fumble that wasn't cause of the whistle and the TD that was six inches from the goal line. Oh and that fifteen yarder for delay of game was pretty ticky tack.

While I do think the refs hurt the Patriots much more than they hurt the Texans, let's be honest and admit that a certain holding call was more than a bit iffy, and let's admit that they should have gotten Gost for a personal foul for his leg whip tackle attempt.

Anyone still wondering why Watt isn't seriously being considered for MVP? Great player but, a defensive end just can't make the same kind of impact as a great QB. 42 and 41 pts on these guys. Pats did a much better job this time around on him than last time imo.

Agreed on:

  • Gronk big loss.
  • Ninko impressive.
  • STs awful.
  • Refs awful (but not quite as bad as people are saying because of Patriot push-off non-calls).
Vereen doesn't seem like a downgrade from Woodhead at all. He looked crisp on his pass blocks, and he looked like a full WR on those pass plays.

Lloyd sure was emotional. Seeing him so happy after his last first down was great.

McCourty seemed to be flying around. I can't recall many plays he actually made after the first TD-saving one, but he still looks good.

Gostkowski looked pathetic on his attempted tackles. He sure is no Adam Vinatieri. ;)

Ninko doesn't get the respect he deserves when talking about the Patriots Defense. The dude brings it, makes key plays. Got the onside kick, int, his pass rush is tight.

Move Vereen out to receiver! What a catch today.

Talib needs a better game next week. Tighter coverage and if he can grow a few inches before next week, that would be good to.

I don't like how the Patriots play after a bye week. I like going into the Ravens game after this type of game and no bye week.

Special Ed teams needs some work, pronto!

Defense looked confused lining up at times today. Better get that fixed before next week.

Can people now stop saying Brady doesn't play good in the playoffs!

That's all for now!

Special team needs to get their act together.

After watching the Ravens STs KO coverage against Denver and ours today, it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility to see back to back kick off returns for TDS.

The team did a lot better once I stopped concentrating on the game and started playing guitar at the start of the third quarter to calm down. Other than that:

1. Gostkowski needs some spring loaded shoes or something because our kickoff coverage was terrible. They need their butts kicked big time. Allowing multiple big runs in one game is asking for a loss. Luckily they got away with it.

2. Today was the calmest I have seen Brady against a good pass rush in a playoff game in a while. That gives me great confidence.

3. We played good defense except a couple of Foster runs and best news, we did not get serious injuries to any key players (hoping Chandler is not serious)

4. Oh yeah, let's trade Welker as fast as possible

Someone help me out please...WTF happened to Chandler Jones? I don't remember him getting hurt and I haven't heard anything on Twitter.

I think they only get you for attempted tripping in soccer. :)

All in all I think the iffiness still sent Houston's way. I got the impression Belichick thinks so too.

No WR on the Ravens is close to Andre Johnson, and to my eyes Talib played quite well today, even in run support.

I was fuming at all the calls going their way. Even Texans fans admitted to that on their boards. Thankfully that no fumble call didn't come back to bite us.

yeah but flacco > schaub.

SVN -- with the board down I thought about you a few times. Was a bit worried! Glad you made it through the game!

I was AT the game...section 118....ten rows up...good binocs...I guess everyone didn't see that this game was reffed 95% in favor of the Texans...you see, here's the thing...when I SEE three Houston O linemen HOLDING Wilfork, two from behind pulling on his jersey and twisting his face mask and I see this repeated OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER all game, I begin to suspect that Tony Corrente and his "crew" have a definite agenda.

I have NOT seen the DVR of the game yet...I will watch it now....I'm very ,very upset at what I saw today...this game was subjected to an attempted fix, and THAT can only come from one place, Goodell and NFL offices.

I scanned the board and saw no references to Welker being illegally held and bumped, so I'm guessing you folks at home didn't SEE much on the tube....there was an orchestrated, well performed intentional pass inteference strategy aimed at Welker the whole game...OK, so no one is going to get even half those calls ,right??...well, if even a THIRD were called, he would have had at least TEN calls....OK?...No bullshyt....I can't remember, did he even get ONE call???...oh..and BTW...pass is away...1 thousand ...2 thousand...BAM!!!! Hit Brady anyway! Hit him with TWO rushers anyway!...Not oNE call all day....I cannot WAIT to see who Goodell assigns to the Ravens game...I'm betting Mike Carey..

yeah but flacco > schaub.

Recent playoff success notwithstanding, that's like comparing a Chevy Aveo to a PT Cruiser convertible.

Borges reporting the amputation was completed at 8:47 pm EST.
