There are no winners here only losers.
This thread is full of winning Froob. On a daily basis I know wake to some great humor kick starting my day thanks to the Nu Yawk Jetz.

Well, the Jets did well here. Traded a crappy RT making $2.5 mill for a crappy RT making $4.0 mill. Some great cap work there :bricks::bricks::bricks:

OMG, what a hilarious trade. Football historians, can you ever remember a 1-for-1 trade of players at the same position? Ever?

The Eagles and the Browns have made a thing of this the last few years.

The Eagles once swapped WR Hank Baskett with WR Billy McMullen of the Vikings. And they swapped DE Chris Clemons with DE Daryll Tapp of the Seahawks.

The Browns swapped QB Trent Dilfer for Ken Dorsey of the 49ers, and for added emphasis they swapped RBs with the Eagles, Jerome Harrison for Mike Bell.

And of course Kyle Orton was once traded for Jay Cutler, and folks may remember when the Packers and the Texans swapped RBs Samkon Gado and Vernand Morency.

Interestingly recently-cut-sign-the-beast OT Alex Barron was once traded for our man Bobby Carpenter, but they of course play different positions.

Both Hunter & Smith's salaries are guaranteed. $4M for Smith. $2.45M for Hunter. So #Rams save $1.55M in trade. Deal makes sense for STL.

That sound you just heard is the ruffling of pages as Jet fans race through their 2009 draft guides and get woodies reading about Jason Smith's lofty "potential"

No question the Jets make out by getting younger. One thing you know about Hunter is that he isn't going to get better. He is what he it. Smith offers at least the hope of "potential"

The Rams dump his contact, though I'm not sure who makes out there

So now the Pats and Bills are left to battle for 2nd in the AFC East...

:(

Next thing you'll tell me is the Bills cut Vince Young and opt for the just as bad Tavaris Jackson as backup QB

Pats coming in first and second would definitely be a feat. It defies logic, but if ever there was a year...

Last straw? Unruly fans got on Hunter late in last night's game; he was restrained by Ducasse, according to source.

I don't buy this story. It'd imply that Ducasse was able to successfully block someone.

To be fair, if I were a Jets fan (*shudder*) I'd be happy about this move. Imagine if Sergio Brown had still been starting games for the Pats this preseason, with disastrous results. If the Pats traded him for somebody else's sub-par safety we'd all sigh in relief.

But as for Smith being young...sadly, no football player with such a serious concussion history can really be considered young.

I gotta say if Smith brings pass protection like he did on this play, Jets fans are going to love this guy.

NFL Videos: Eagles defense, sack, 8-yd loss

Don't biatch about Marcus Cannon after you watch this video.

On a serious note, this should be yet another reality check for anybody calling for the Pats to trade for a Cannon upgrade or just "sign a veteran swing tackle." There are multiple teams already out beating the bushes for anything that vaguely resembles an OT.

That's apparently so, especially after reading about the other hotshot RT cut that averages 7 penalties a game.

My idea, possible or not, was to hope for a guy with only a little tread left on the tires for guidance and stability. I think Cannon will be fine in time.

The New York Football Jets: Putting the FUN back in DysFUNctional! :D

Man, is Rex Ryan channeling his inner Kotite?

he'd be better off channeling his inner tapeworm

heh. Probably my pain meds talking, but I found that to be damned funny just now. :singing:

Can you imagine the conversation...

Rams GM: I hear you are looking for a tackle?

Tanny: Gee, do you think? Hunter is a dumpster fire and now we are starting a guy we found wandering the streets of Cortland.

Rams GM: What do you think of Jason Smith?

Tanny: Gawd no! He is terrible and one head shot away from forgetting which sport he is playing!

Rams GM: But your fans don't know that. We are never on TV and when they Google the guy, they'll see he was a #2 overall pick in 2009...you know just ahead of that stiff you have running your offense with a fear of the end zone.

Tanny: I guess. But I'm not giving up anything for him. I mean I won't even give you used footwear that Rex even finds disgusting.

Rams GM: We'll take Hunter.

Tanny: Deal.

Do you know what would be really funny? (stay with me here by the way...)

The Jets end up cutting Hunter, the Pats pick him up, and he plays a few games and looks good thanks to Scar.

I think the internet might break if that were to happen.

for a player to player evaluation; the jets may be slightly better off w/ smith as their backup rather than hunter;

But was that worth burning up 1.5M of (i believe it was) 4M cap space.

if their wrs suck so bad; i thought they might try for stallworth or gaffney; but if they have no cap space left - :bricks: Gotta love it. :D
