Another guy I want them to get is Kendal Langford.

That could be in the picture, if we're lucky.

We all know that BB values the option to rotate his big guys, so this is likely one of the most important positions for him to watch.

There are some other decent guys on the DL who are out there, and shouldn't command a lot of money. Castillo is another one who may be of some use in a rotational role, considering he should not want much money either.

There's certainly still some safeties out there too. I'd like a guy like Mike Adams amongst some other names.

I watched quite a few Bengals games....this guy can plan. Curious to see how he will be used. I wonder if he'll see time both in the middle and outside. Great value for this guy. He won't make headlines but he'll do well in the trenches.

Very cool, because we need some good planners on this team. :)

Yes, and it is a perfect reminder of the joys of being a Pats fan. 5% better here, 5% better there, and presto, an .800 winning percentage, Division titles, and Super Bowls.

Yes, this is the method to the madness. Plus, not many teams have figured out DL-rotations yet. Every DL in the league wears down in the 4th quarter. You often get better play from 2 Fanenes rather than, say, one backup Pro Bowler.

Wilfork is a different story.

He was second on the Bengals in sacks behind Geo Atkins. That's not bad for an interior guy playing in sub packages.

I have never watched this guy play so can't make any big pronouncements about this move , but i am tired of us going for these mid level guys as primary starters. I have no problems in having them as rotation guys like this guy was in Cinci. Yes we have always gone after value guys but people don't forget that when we were winning super bowls our starting d-line was just 1 st rounders , and arguably the best d-line in football .To have a good defense you have to put in major investment in your d-lines

Bobby Hamilton and Anthony Pleasant say hello.

So, you've never seen him play, you have no idea what's he's capable of when he's lining up alongside an existing line that features perennial badass Big Vince, and you have no idea what he's being brought in to do.

Outside of that, very reasonable post.

along with richard seymour, ty warren, ted washington........hamilton and pleasant not only had it different with the guys around them, but they were also proven within the system

a little early to be dubbing fanene as one of those guys

Remind me again, which of those guys were on the 2001 team?

I don't see Fanene as much of a base guy anyway. I think he is a straight Mike Wright replacement as a sub rusher and backup DE.

Not sure how that's relevant given the post I was responding to initially.

By all accounts he is better vs the run than Wright. Seeing that he, by all accounts is just as good as a pass rusher he should play more in 3-4 and 4-3 sets.

There are some conflicting reports on his run defense. Hopefully he can contribute in the base, but from what I have seen of him his strength is rushing the passer.
