Flacco has the better raw skills, and throws to the inferior talent, but I'd still probably take Sanchez on account of his playoff performances. After seeing Flacco's vacant expression when they failed to get a play off before the 2Q two minute warning, I don't think I would trust him to pick me up from the airport, let alone quarterback a team.

Sanchez made some clutch throws last January, but Flacco absolutely stunk in their playoff win. It just didn't matter because the Pats couldn't stop the running game to save their lives and Baltimore's D punked the Pats, setting up short fields after turnovers and put the Pats in a 20+ point hole after one quarter.

Regards,
Chris

It is what it is.

Flacco is under contract through 2012... I remember reading this in the spring and thinking don't do it Ozzie... Let him play out the whole damn deal. He's regressing.

"I think I've established myself," Flacco said to the newspaper. "If you're not confident with who I am, I'm not sure what a year is going to make."

"Ideally for me, I would like to do something as soon as possible because I feel like I deserve it," Flacco told the Sun. "If you don't feel like I'm going to be your quarterback for the next 10 years, what's one year going to make. I don't know what the deal is.

Yup. The biggest thing Sanchez has going for him is his personality and charisma. At least his guys know he's trying and he is capable of pulling a rabbit out of his ass now and again. Flacco has absolutely no personality. He often looks vague and disinterested. He's devoid of emotion. Must drive Ray nuts, especially when he lays an egg as he still does more often than not including against the bad teams they have to beat.

Give me Flacco all day. Better skills.

I'm not a believer in "clutch", for the most part. I'm a believer in you are who you are. Put Flacco in enough pressure situations and his performance will average out to his career stats. Likewise, I think Sanchez is due to regress to the mean next time he's in the playoffs.

i'm glad neither QB plays for the Patriots:):):)

I LIKED your post only b/c of the Flacco comment

CLUTCH, however exists

I can't deny that SOME guys choke and SOME guys thrive, but for the most part, I think that stuff is overrated. My opinion is that over time, if you put any player in enough clutch situations, they'll perform within their abilities. Take Brady for instance. As we all remember, he was unstoppable in the playoffs early in his career. In the last few...not so much. Has he lost "it"? I don't think so, in fact, I think he's due for a few legendary performances.

Sanchez, on the other hand, is due for 3 years of 3 INT games.

You mention they're defenses......if only Brady had a defense of they're caliber these past few years.....

I think both are below average QBs and neither are good enough to get their team a Super Bowl win without a lot (and I mean a lot) of help. To be fair to both guys, they both have arguably among the worst offensive coordinators in the league. Gun to my head I would select Flacco because he has at least thrown for over 20 TDs in a season (twice).

The only thing that Sanchez really has going for him is he does step up in the clutch. That said, his propensity for playing God-awful football for most of any given game is the reason he needs to step up in a clutch in a lot of situations.

LOL, you are such a biased homer.

BTW, Sanchez has 12 TD's so far this year, 4th in the league, I guess he might finally surpass the true stat that will force you to have to change your mind...

Dude, really if you are trying to say Sanchez has been anything better than a bottom 10 QB (and that is being very, very generous, its probably bottom 5) you are simply kidding yourself.

I'd have to pick Sanchez even though it goes against every thing I stand for. He sucks but he DID get them to the AFC championship game two years in a row.

Sanchez has had his growing pains, and bouts of inconsistencies, but he's still just 24 years old. Coming out of college he had only 16 starts.

Bash the guy all you want, but the talent and upside is there, and considering his accomplishments in the post-season, when it matters most, in just his first two years, there is plenty to like, especially when compared to Joe freaking Flacco who has done nothing.

I get it, Pats fans are rooting hard against him, but let's not skew the facts or lose site of the fact he is still a young kid. Most QB's struggle the first couple of years, some even sit. Heck, he's outperforming Freeman, Flacco, Ryan, and Bradford so far this year, and Stafford has come back to earth in the last couple of weeks.
