To those fans who booed

So....why did BB take the timeout at all?????????

He DID do that, you know.

Why are you asking why when I explained in the post you responded to?

99% of the time, I'm accused of "being a homer" and "chugging the koolaid" etc.
But some of the arguments and the way they've been put here are just embarrassing.

It's almost like members of the North Korean Parliament.

Now THERE'S a group who knows how to behave appropriately!

Clearly, the fact that Belichick WOUND the clock down and called TO in the middle of the 35 second clock meant that Belichick had a plan, right? You can disagree with the plan, but to say Belichick's thinking was somehow so flawed that anyone who agrees with their thinking is somehow an apparatchik, well that's questionable to say the least.

The question is, Do you boo your team in this situation.

The answer is yes, if you are a spoiled fan, or cannot accept that other teams earn their paychecks too, and that the Ravens are one of the best teams in the NFL right now.
The booing had nothing to do with them playing poorly.

It had to do with BB throwing in the towel on the half with 1:30 left.

I already explained it.

He let an amount run off the clock that allowed him to take a shot. If he gets it to the Patriots 35 with 35 seconds left and 3 timeouts, he has time for 4 plays any where on the field. He needs another 30 yards for a 50 yard field goal.

But if he fails on the first throw to move the ball 15-20 yards downfield, he can run it, force Baltimore to expend their timeouts, kick the ball, Baltimore gets the ball at the 45-50, but with 25-30 seconds left. Yes, they can kick a FG in that time.

But the alternative is this: Patriots get the ball at the 12 with Baltimore having all their TOs. Brady throws an incomplete pass, 2 runs, Baltimore gets the ball at the 45-50 with 1 minute left.

You don't gameplan on the assumption that your offense is going to go 3-and-out. The offense ran out of time. If they had 10 more seconds, it would have been a tie game at the half. His waiting so long directly cost them points.

That being said, if there's 1:10 on the clock, you're going to run much higher percentage plays because you don't have to throw down the field.

They were booed and booed LUSTILY. I loved it. Let's them know what's up. And they did improve.

Sure you do. Belichick did.

Nothing wrong with the booing there...

iam quite surprised it hasnt gotten media atten and brady wasnt asked about it today...

Whats the POINT of booing a team with a lot of young players trying to come together and mesh, especially in this situation? Do you really think it will make them play better. A good lot of them are rookies feeling their way and trying to learn the system. Its not like they laid down like last January. They were behind arguably the best team in the league by 3 Points. So what was the point of booing again, it feels good?

That's pretty much what I thought when it happened. Belichick handled this correctly, particularly since NE was getting the ball to start Q3.

The crowd almost always boos when the team takes a knee at the end of the half. While there's nothing wrong with them booing, I don't think those fans necessarily have a realistic outlook on the pros and cons of chucking it down the field.

Despite the booing, that was one of the most enthusiastic crowds in recent memory. A great day at the Razor ...

I thought they were still booing early in the third quarter.

Are you dense? Seriously.

Nobody was booing the players.

umm.. I was! After witnessing another series of 3 and outs I decided to voice my displeasure. Players were dropping balls with no one on them (and I'm not talkinga bout Hernandez).. They weren't focused..

Here's the thing.. I went to the Nov 13 game in 94 where the Pats were down 20-3.. The fans were booing the ***** out of Bledsoe.. That game had the same outcome as this past weeks.. Voicing your displeasure is okay.. Sometimes it has a positive effect..

As someone who has defended the booing over the years whenever the Patriots put up stinkers, I thought the booing in this game was completely uncalled for.

Wow, so Belichick really screwed up in SB 36 by starting that last drive way too early with 1:12 left on the clock.

I get it, he shouldn't have let Brady throw it backed up in their territory, he should have had Antowain run into the middle to take off more time, say get it to 35 seconds or so.

Ya learn something new every day on this website!

Once again, they weren't booing the TEAM.

They were booing Belichick for not trusting the 33 year old Brady at home in a regular season game in Gillette Stadium before the half as much as he trusted the 24 year old Brady in Super Bowl 36 deep in Patriot territory with the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Actually, I don't think that's it at all. I think he just lost track of the time and had a brainfart. He's human. The incredible explanation by Upstater1 that he meant to do it, because having the ball with 35 seconds left in the half is better than with 59 seconds, is ludicrous.

Didn't anyone in the media ask him about that (the end of the half TO not calling right away and then calling it 25+ seconds latter just so they could take a knee) in the post game PC? That is one of the type of questions he will answer usually. He has admitted on EFFing up a call before.
