Re: Moss trade info keeps getting better and better..

What a kick to the nuts. WTF!!! Minnesota is desperate to win NOW and I mean, next week! The Patriots could have benched Moss for disciplinary reasons and just sat him out while other teams started climbing over each others backs to get to him. This reminds me of the Cassel/Vrabel trade. Very impatient negotiating and getting under market value.

By the way, Derrick Burgess is worth a 3rd and 5th.

Moss and a seventh are worth a 3rd.

WTF!!!

No, but disagreeing with a bunch of homers who've elevated Belichick to divine status doesn't make one crazy either.

Yes, only homers think that unloading an aging, disgruntled but still flashes of talent WR who wasn't giving his all and was becoming a locker room problem for something while you can is bad business.

As for "heading it off", exactly how do you head this off? Pay him loads of money for declining production? Coddling him? Oh, wait THEY DID give him an extension and there was definitely coddling. And yet things continued to decline. Moss is a professional. Yet he doesn't always act like it.

Oh, but ONLY HOMERS think that.

And no one said BB is divine. Just one of the best coaches in the league. But by all means unload him. Yeah, and we have the next Sean PAyton waiting in th wings because they totally grow on trees. Perhaps YOU could do a great job, Deus. And Teenuh can be your GM!

OMG, the solution IS RIGHT BEFORE OUR EYES.

I would agree with your point but this is not Brady 2001 but Brady in his prime years. This team is looking at the future without Brady basically.

This was all a clever plan by BB because he loves all of the fans on the PatsFans forum. BB was worried that we would all be bored and disgruntled with nothing to discuss with 2 weeks off, and BB is more concerned with his customers happiness than his star receiver. So he ships his star receiver off and makes his customers/fans very happy by giving them something to keep them busy through the BYE week. BB is showing us his love and you are all angry at him. What gives?

Don't you realize how much BB loves you.

This is how I see this deal. With Moss we are very dangerous and score very fast. With this defense, we don't want them to stay on the field that long so scoring fast is not a good idea imo, we need to kill the clock with slow timing consuming drives. I don't see how you may be able to do that. So in a way, we are going to the short passes, draws, intermediate passes, etc.

Actually, the solution was right there, and had 2 options.

1.) Give Moss an extension

2.) BEFORE THE START OF THE SEASON, trade Moss and get a replacement.

Here's a Belichick news flash for you:

He's not perfect.
Other than his work with the draft (and even with some of that) He did a lousy job in 2009.
He's still making big mistakes in 2010.

I like the front office again.

now get mankins back in here

You're dreaming. If the Pats won't give Moss an extension they sure ain't gonna give Mankins a big money extension. Mankins has been proven to be replaceable. That has yet to be seen with Moss.

Besides I think Mankins badmouthed Kraft and wouldn't offer a public apology so there's no way the coffers are opening for him.

Moss trade - Pats being cheap or making room for a big signing? This move just makes NO SENSE so far.

Dont u know that BB walks on the water on this forum:rolleyes:The guy's a great coach but i wonder sometimes if he does all this to prove critics wrong.

The more I think of it which has been the last 20 hours I feel less confident. Those highlights are getting to me and the management is seriously considering being content with what we have, it's scary to think we are tanking at 3-1. After four straight tough seasons.
I'm not happy with the trade, or somehow finding a way to keep Moss content, productive and not a distraction. But to say the Pats have had "four straight tough seasons" is ridiculous. The team has gone 49-15 during that time period (52-16 if you include 2010) plus four playoff wins. Two conference championship appearances, one conference title, four double-digit winning seasons - but that's "four straight tough seasons"? There's about 27 NFL fan bases that would love to have had it so tough the last four years.

On the contrary. If what's being reported is true, the trade makes perfect sense.

I am telling u they must have a trade up their sleeves!!!They must have one because it doesnt make sense!

After the initial shock of what happened yesterday and a decent enough night of shut eye, I've come to the conclusion that I'm ok with this and am willing to see how it all plays out.

Two different things. The Pats did try to extend Mankins. They never attempted to extend Moss.

As others have pointed out, there are other possible, valid reasons beyond monetary considerations.

I'm really not so sure what's so difficult and/or horrible about this position. Did Randy Moss turn into a cancer? Yes. Did he need to be traded (by all accounts of his behavior)? Yes. Could this have been avoided before the season started? Yes. Could we have traded Moss before the season started and had a replacement in camp to help the current crop of receivers? Yes. Both sides are guilty of making mistakes in this one. This is a perfectly reasonable position here and, for some reason, it's driving a lot of you insane. I don't get it.

Actually, if you listen to the WEEI radio clip and read the reports of Moss's behavior after not getting an extension, etc. then it makes perfect sense. We had to get him out of here at that point. However, the whole situation still could have been avoided.

oh hindsight how 20/20 you are. Funny neither you nor Deus were extremely vocal about trading Moss before the season, now all of a sudden that was one of only 2 logical options

The fact that Bill Belichick didn't feel those were the only 2 options should make you stop and think maybe he had reason to believe otherwise. But no, you 2 continue to think that you are supremely objective and always right

Wow, going back over some of the posts in here, you'd think that Moss was a complete bum with us. The fact of the matter is that most of you were for the same position as I was in the offseason: sign the man immediately. Now, suddenly he's gone, and you would think that he's a complete bum. I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles, right?

:bricks:

But hey, IBBWT, right? Huzzah, and all that stuff.

Apparently you're a complete bum if you produce three straight 1,000 yard seasons with double digit TDs in each but you're a TOTAL STUD waiting to happen if you're Laurence Maroney. What a twisted world this message board lives in.

DENOUNCED!

Having Moss in 2007 was a great experiment. Almost won the SB.

Now, everybody is saying the Patriots season is over. This is EXCELLENT bulletinboard material for the entire season!

More 2-TE sets, maybe TaylorPrice can help out as well..
