Rumor: Moss to Vikings?

Hey it was a nice run!

Belichick will follow Chuck Noll's post Championship path, Brady will retire in a couple of years and the pursuit for greatness will begin anew.

Randy's departure will be sad and we'll all fall back to 2007.

Randy gave his all that year, but too many bad drafts and bad personnel decisions caught up to us.

He'll always be one of the top three best players ever to wear a Pats uni.

Randy may be disgruntled but he's not the only one.

Brady just signed a 4 year contract. He isn't leaving in a "couple years".

Idiot

Seems like he wasn't going to get a contract here and crazy Favre Vikings are going to pay and we'll get something. Might be for the best.

Hate to lose him, thought he was great in his time here, but i don't think we used him very well as far as making teams pay for doubling him.

We'll have to change back to an offense we ran very successfully. Still think we can get 5 yard passes to Welker, no loss there.

It would be nice if we had developed better receivers and running backs, though. We'll have to rely on the creative genius of the non coordinator now. Maybe he can call Charlie weis and ask him how he did it with Brown, Patten and Wiggins.

We can have one of the best passing offenses in the NFL without Moss. I'm sure this team will find a way to still be productive if he leaves, but an efficient 2004-style ball control offense will NOT be enough with the defense we have today. We need to outscore people and Randy Moss is a HUGE help in that regard. Brady is the best QB in the league, and has made chicken soup out of chicken **** for most of his career, but there isn't a single player who can put 30 on the board consistently without a big-time receiver. And that's what it'll take to even think about making the playoffs this season.

I'll forgive your stupidity as I'm sure it can't be helped, but Brady will not play out that contract...

I have to get up early tomorrow, so I'm leaving. I'm going to assume that when I wake up in the morning I'll find that this was all just a bad dream.

It was not a bad dream son. It was a wonderful revelation you had and once you wake up tomorrow you will realize that Moss's legacy is making him out to be a super star now, which is by no means true.

Go back to sleep young one.:D

I'll believe it when I see it. He is way too much an integral part of the offensive scheme and is just as important whether he's being thrown to or not. Just seems to make no sense and hard to see how it could be "best for the team".

Those teams were not led by their offense. The defense won games for them, all the offense had to do was manage the game and not make mistakes. The difference is this team depends on the offense to go out and win games for them, without Moss that becomes extremely difficult

Lose Moss?!?!

Noo!!!!

There are many weird dynamics to this idea:

* BB and Childress hate each other.
* Why would Moss go to Minnesota to play part of one season with Favre?
* We play Minnesota in a few weeks and Moss would hurt us in more ways than one.
* Who would be our No. 1 receiver/deep threat?
* Would Vincent Jackson be part of the equation?
* Would Mankins be part of the equation, perhaps in a three-way involving San Diego?
* We're already loaded with 2011 picks, why would we need more? (Unless we might use one or more to swing a deal for veteran help THIS season.)

Part of me is getting tired of Moss's fragile ego, but the other part of me wouldn't want to see him go unless we're somehow better off without him on the field THIS season. Which, to me, means bringing in someone like Jackson to fill the void.
dont think jackson is coming and even if he comes, by the time he learns the offense and such it maybe too late.this is awful timing for this trade that is what i dont get if the pats are doing it...

Much as I like parts of the on-line phenomenon, the Moss trade rumor is showing up the dark side of the technology. Once upon a time journalists waited for the second source before publishing, now they just wait a second. None of the tweets, blogs or reports have been corroborated, and we get an avalanche of misinformation and speculation as a result. I do not doubt that there is some substance to a potential trade for Moss but sometimes I just wish it was something I found out in the morning paper after the deed happened and it was confirmed. This torture of death by a 1000 tweets is agonizing (and yes now I will log out to end the discomfort)

I hope there is no fire and this is just a storm in a PC-cup, I want to see TB to RM - TD! a few more dozen times.

How do you know that? Are you friends with him? Has he confided you that little piece of information? Don't call people dumb when what you're saying doesn't have any logical reasoning behind it.

So far pretty much the same thing he's been saying all afternoon. That they've been working on this deal before yesterdays game, and there are a few hurdles to clear.

Thanks. Well, I guess I'll log off for the night. I thought I might sleep well but I guess not.

Bummer.

Yes he will, sorry for your stupidity.

This cannot make any sense at all unless it is a 3 way deal and the Pats come away with Vincent Jackson.

This is a really sad night. 8 hour work day..come back in a good mood knowing our Pats had a nice 41-14 win yesterday...... and then turn on my computer and read this crap. Moss was my favorite player on the team and now I have to surf the web for hours to hear a definitive answer ....but the rumors are not looking good. Like others, I hope this is just a bad dream

From Vikings site:

From checking around on Jay Glazer's initial breaking news, it's clear the Vikings and Patriots are discussing a trade but nothing is done yet. The two teams are talking but the Vikings and Moss apparently had not begun discussions earlier this evening.

That's the catch. Moss is going to want a multi-year extension with sizable guaranteed money. ProFootballTalk reported that he wants $9 million or more per year.

Vikings owner Zygi Wilf has said he and the organization are "all in" in their pursuit of a Super Bowl title this season so it makes sense that the team would go after Moss in an attempt to bolster its struggling passing attack.

Brett Favre has said this is his final year and his desire to play with Moss is well-known. Adrian Peterson is off to a terrific start and the Vikings defense might be the best in Coach Brad Childress tenure. But with Sidney Rice sidelined after having hip surgery, the passing game is a serious concern and Moss would bring an instant vertical threat.

But if the Vikings give Moss a ton of guaranteed money, what does that mean for Rice and linebacker Chad Greenway, two players who are standing in line for contract extensions and hefty raises. And Peterson also is in line for a huge payday, which likely needs to happen next offseason.

It will be interesting to see how this story unfolds the next 24 hours or so and what the Vikings are willing to offer and what it takes to bring Moss back to where he started his career.
