Re: What we learned today

1. Darius Butler needs to be replaced. Other than the problems with him, our defense isn't bad and they will get better.

2. They were throwing too many long passes instead of getting Welker into the game in the second half.

3. Much like Brady, I'm a little annoyed by a lot of our fans. Pats fans only seem to be fans when we're ahead by 20 points. Whenever people make mistakes, we start hearing, "Brady sucks, Moss sucks, the defense/offense sucks, Bill sucks, etc...." Its embarrassing.

4. Tomlinson is still a great RB. The problem was obviously SD's offensive line.

We all love Tom Brady, but he turned the ball over 3 times in the second half, he was a huge part of this loss.

Re: What we learned today

Sadly though, how do we replace Butler ... with Wilhite, Wheatley, Arrington? We're stuck with him. At least for this year. We're not making a trade for a quality shutdown corner, if there is one out there.

I agree about the going deep part. I don't think Welker caught a pass all second half, and did we eve run the ball?

Yeah, i don't understand why they stopped throwing to welker. It seemed like most of the passes were long bombs to moss. I have confidence in Moss but you can't expect to just continuously make long passes to him like that. Not against a great defense like the Jets have. The pats are at their best when they throw short/medium passes to players like welker and hernandez.

As for butler, I don't know what we can do about him but he absolutely sucks as a CB. We never should have let Assante Samuel go. I knew that was a mistake we would regret one day.

Re: What we learned today

It's time for Bill to drop the trade-down policy in the draft, 2nd and 3rd busts instead of trade-ups or sitting tight in the 1st round have been a brutal failure. The Jets trade for play makers and deal up for talent. Their FO alone has kicked our arse...............

I swear to god if Patrick Peterson is on the board when our first pick comes up and we trade down, I will shake a baby. I think this shows that BB was right about the whole "never can have enough" good corners though:ugh:

Re: What we learned today

I'll repeat what I mentioned in the game thread, it seems like the worst thing that happened was the Moss TD. After that the offence was so predictable. It's disappointing given how open Hernandez was getting all game. Still, FFS, it's week 2, does it suck losing to the Jets? Hell yes...

Re: This team has become one of the worst teams in the NFL on the road

It's only one game this season. Let's see how they do the rest of way before we talk about it being a bad road team. For all we know this is just one loss on the road to a pretty good season. Last year means nothing to this year.

1. That we need to put everyone on Offense in a Moss jersey so Bieber might actually throw them a pass instead of Randy Moss.

Re: What we learned today

Yet we'll still win the division... again

The most astute statement in this thread. I think we can get to first place by Week 4.

Re: Felger right about one thing.

The Patriots offense gets out of sync when they try to force the ball to Moss. Both picks were on attempts to Moss. Everything was going smooth when they were using him as a decoy. Off topic: what's with getting out adjusted after the half again? I'm getting sick of half time leads evaporating. Have to blame the coaching staff.

One pick was basically a punt but I agree with your overall point completely.

Re: Butler is GARBAGE

as of right now its quite evident that butler is the weakest link of the defense. i actually thought wilhite would have been the bigger liability.

This could be a huge overreaction post full of anger but...

It makes you wonder what this offense would be like if this offense didn't have Moss.

All players have bad games, even people like Brady and Manning. Anyone who says Brady sucks isn't even a pats fan in my opinion.

We aren't regretting a damn thing with regards to Samuel. He is NOT worth his contract and he allows big plays and easy TDs with his gambling. He's not a shutdown corner, he's a gambling playmaker. The turnovers would be good surely, but I don't regret not paying Samuel at all.

We miss Leigh Bodden that's for damn sure, but McCourty and Butler are still very young and will improve. In case you forget, Samuel was pretty bad in his first 2-3 years btw.

Remember guys, never as bad as it seems.....

I'll just repeat that about 10,000X tonight. I need a drink.

For those who say Sanchez sucked and is the worst QB in the league

As a PATS FAN I wish to say just STFU ,and worry about this pathetic defense and the meltdown of our 20 Million Dollar QB in the 3rd quarter

There is a lot of crow to be eaten in this forum by the know-it-alls who think the Pats sh!t don't stink.

Re: Stunned and Disgusted

I can't watch the rest of this. I'm just disgusted in our team's performance today. The worst 2nd half of football I've seen in awhile. And no, I'm not a "the sky's falling" kind of guy, or a bandwagoner, and I know this team is capable of great things... but right now they don't deserve my support, at least for the rest of the night.

This

2nd half killed me, I don't know what's up with our D but Bill needs to coach them up better at half-time. I would rather they save there nut for the 2nd half rather then blow there load in the 1st Quarter...:bricks:

They need to FINISH!!!

Agreed 100%. Tom Brady doesn't suck, he had, as you said, a bad game. He was a large contributor to today's loss, but he doesn't suck. Agreed.

1. The team pissed down their legs, coaches and players. Second half effort is completely in-defensible.

2. Pull it together and beat Buffalo and move on from there.

Brady was an embarassment. I cover my eyes when Gostkowski kicks FG's AND whenever it is a 3rd down against our D. Butler is looking like another Wilhite. Meriweather and Chung were invisible.

Whatever D we had in the first half of the Bengals game was not in NJ today. Maybe this will show that the fast, swarming style from that game is much better than the read and react stuff.

Samuel is a great CB. Look at his career stats! Bodden is good but Samuel was better.

I think McCourty is going to be a great CB but Butler makes too many mental errors and he isn't fast enough to keep up with some of the elite receivers.
