So who are these 90% of fans who would kill to have Sexy Rexy as their coach? Are we including college football across all divisions? High school?

I want to play for Rex Ryan.:)

I don't get it. So, an HC throws the eff word around and everybody loves him? Boys are weird. ;)

Seriously, do Jets fans think that Rex is the only guy with confidence who does not give an eff what people think? Really? Rex is the only guy brash enough to be loud about it, folks. That sort of behavior works well with a rapid/crazy and brash fanbase. Woody did not get rich for being stupid.

... He's genuine, he has a loose cannon, but he's confident in what he does, and that is how he is, a FAR cry from the tightwad mumbles you have roaming the sideline.

Thing is, more than 90% of the fans that kill Rex, would KILL to have HIM as their team's head coach. ...

C'mon dude, I know you're a Jets hater, but be honest.

In honor of this amazingly unbiased post, what is the jests fans equivalent of Kool Aid? Za-Rex?

One thing Schefter may have forgotten to tweet: these alleged players - are they active players or players still looking for a team to play on (****cough****Adalius Thomas**** cough****)

Wow I forgot all about Adalius Thomas. What happened to him? Did any teams ever pick him up or or even look at him this offseason?

If Belichick wasn't the HC of the NEP, I would want Ryan.

That said, Ryan can't even compare to Belichick. It's not even close.

To call a Hall Of Fame lock Head Coach a "tighwad mumbles" shows what a twit you are.

"He has a loose cannon"?? Good God.

I'm confused. Bill Belichick and Rex Ryan are at the total opposite ends of the spectrum.

BB is quiet, secretive and focuses on scheme rather than motivational techniques. He always talks up his opponent in public and downplays the Patriots. His vision is on the larger goal, but his focus is on the next task, the next game. He runs a tight ship and demands that players buy into his philosophy - at least with their actions.

RR is bombastic, loud, brash and spends a lot of time on motivation. He is always talking up himself and his team and rarely talks up the opponents. He thinks and talks about being Super Bowl champions long before the evidence is there on the football field. He encourages players to act individually and be themselves.

BB is entertaining only because he wins. RR is entertaining because of his whole demeanor - although there are some around like me who do not find it entertaining but foolish and irksome.

The only potential similarity between the 2 is that they both are acknowledged as very good defensive coaches with good success as coordinators. As head coaches, there is no similarity.

It sounds like you've bought into the pipe dream that RR is selling - that the Jets will win partially because his knowledge and that his style of coaching is what NFL players need to succeed. Personally, I think this style of coaching is a train wreck waiting to happen and I'd rather take a slightly less proficient X's and O's coach than RR whose coaching style will both aggravate and create problems for his team at some point (which will certainly include when the hype does not match reality).

Can you play CB?

The NY Posers are going to need somebody when Cromartie and Wilson are burned like toast.

One thing you have wrong is the motivation part.
Just because Ryan uses the media to 'motivate' his players does not mean his form of motiviation is any more effective than BBs which takes place out of sight of the media.
BB is often poorly portrayed as not a motivator of his players. I think he is one of the best in the business. All you have to do is listen to his players speak publicly. HIs message, the correct one has gotten through to them.
Which is better motiviation? Ryan telling his team they are future champs or Belichicks motivational efforts having Welker write one game at a time?
Motivation isnt about getting players to be overconfident, its about getting them to do their job better, not get better at arguing how good they are.

I could for Rex, he would coach me up and allow me to play to my strengths.

Adalius has decided since no one wants him to start a new career

Here is a recent pic of Adalius, relaxing at work at his new job

If he is relaxing, why is he having his blood pressure taken? :bricks:

At the end of the day it's all about winning. If Rex ****s the bed AGAIN this season and doesn't get inadvertently bailed out down the stretch like he did last season, the media will turn on him as they were beginning to late last season and Woody's fan base won't be far behind them. Same deal as with Mangenius, who was brought in not to entertain so much as to tease by mimicing genius. When it didn't pan out... meh. Before that it was another great motivator players loved to play for ('cause he wasn't all that demanding) and the media loved to cover. "You play... to win... the game" was his mantra. He's a mediot now.

Players loved playing for Rex's dad, too. Didn't translate into a successful HC, though.

I didn't watch the show but read about how Tannenbaum was talking about the Revis contract problem after meeting with one of the agents. It sounded as if he was frustrated and venting, which to me, made no sense to do on a show that is going to be aired before the contract gets resolved. He could have used the show to reach out to Revis personally and without the message being filtered by his agents, but instead it sounds like he was just whining and maybe even creating a more hostile situation.

Can anyone who watched comment on that segment?
I haven't had a chance to see the show (yet, I hope) but Mike Greenberg this morning talked about how there was no chance Tennenbaum wasn't playing to the cameras. As was pointed out today on PFT, the Jets have changed their entire approach to dealing with Revis. Worth a try, the old one certainly wasn't close to working.

It's not that complicated. If you can't be good, at least be entertaining.

IIRC, he actually thought his team was mathematically eliminated. A sportswriter had to correct him. I think if BB ever had to be corrected on such a thing by a sportswriter, he would hang it up right there.

In all fairness the Jets had a very small percentage of a chance at the time and it was practically a miracle that everything broke their way and they had a playoff shot. I think the percentage at the time was something under 10%.

No, that is how Ryan always is, it's why Bart Scott mentioned in one of the interviews about who he would want to go into an alley with, Rex Ryan.

Please don't be naive to think Rex is a phony, because that is the exactly OPPOSITE of what he is. He's genuine, he has a loose cannon, but he's confident in what he does, and that is how he is, a FAR cry from the tightwad mumbles you have roaming the sideline.

Thing is, more than 90% of the fans that kill Rex, would KILL to have HIM as their team's head coach.

Do you think Rex gets his players to play as hard as they do for him, because he is a phony who likes a camera?

C'mon dude, I know you're a Jets hater, but be honest.

You do know that you're probably going to be back here panning the guy next season, right? We heard the same thing about Mangini from you guys after his first season. How he was great, better than BB, how fans of other teams, especially the Pats, would kill to have him. Fast forward one year and Jets fans were making excuses about a sophomore slump and how he's going to make a huge comeback with Favre. One year later, when everything falls apart, Mangini has suddenly always been a cancer and now Jets fans are ready to be rid of him.

Ryan isn't doing himself any favors running his mouth. Believe me when I say that most teams aren't afraid and aren't buying into his dog and pony show. Most teams probably look at the Jets and see a team who got lucky to even get into the playoffs last year. The same way most of those teams' fans look at the Jets.

The Jets are simply the bully marching around with his chest out to the big kid in school right now, shouting and talking **** about how he's going to beat the big kid's ass. Meanwhile, the Dolphins are the other big kid in school sitting quietly in the corner with a 100 mile stare in his eyes. They scare me more than the Jets do.
