Curran: "Adalius Thomas, he's gone"

...and I'm feeling strong, I will sing this victory song....ooo ooo ooo...

not a Patriot, never was....

And just BTW, if Belichick intended to re-sign Wilfork, he would have used a 4th round draft choice on a developmental NT, much as he spent a 4th on a developmental guard. There were also plenty of safeties available in the 4th. It is hard to believe that belichick thought that he couldn't find backup safeties in free agency.

Brace was a WTF choice as it was. If Wilfork stays, it was a really aweful choice. Obviously, Wilfork can be franchised to secure his services for a year.

The Brace pick kind of reminds me of the infamous 4th and 2 against Indy. It smells like we hadn't really thought out a long term plan.

We knew that Seymour and Wilfork would both be FAs. The possibility of an uncapped year was looming. If we knew that we were going to prioritize Wilfork over Seymour and franchise him as necessary, then spend a 2nd round pick on a developmental NT wasn't necessary. There were lots of talented guys projected to the 3rd-4th rounds.

Belichick is looking to the future and is in full rebuilding mode and this will continue again in 2010.

We could be in much better shape if Belichick was focused on 2009 as much as he is focused on 2011. We'd have Matthews, Laurinitis, Seymour and Hobbs on this team. Instead we have Brace, Chung, Ohrnberger and a couple of future draft choices, although we'd still have what we gave for Burgess if we were keeping Seymour.

We'd still have an extra 2nd round pick, since the 2011 2nd rounder from Tennessee was obtained for our original #89 pick. As you note, we wouldn't have the Jacksonville 2nd round pick, but we would likely have the 3rd and 5th that we traded to Oakland for Burgess.

The decade is over. We still have a chance for the playoffs (and therefore the Super Bowl) and still have a better team than 2001. But the team doesn't have the heart and the leadership of the Super Bowl teams. And just BTW, that comes from the coaches even more than from veteran players.

This team stands apart from all other BB teams in terms of the inexperience at all levels of the organization except for BB:

- FO: Scott Pioli was more than a personnel evaluator and contracts guy. He was a daily foil to BB and something of a counterweight to BB's aggressive personality. Floyd Reese isn't involved in daily operations. Nick Caserio doesn't have Pioli's gravitas.

- Coaching Staff: Romeo Crennel and Charlie Weis were experienced and respected assistants who were head coach material. Josh McDaniel was a keen young offensive mind who quickly became head coach material. Dom Capers was a former HC and experienced DC. O'Brien and Pees don't carry much credibility.

- Players: Bruschi, Vrabel and Harrison (and McGinest before) provided experienced veteran leadership and "heart". That hasn't been replaced. Seau was presumably brought in to provide some needed leadership, but he's barely gotten on the field.

What we're left with is BB and a very inexperienced organization, at all levels. BB can't do it all by himself.

Did we misuse him??? was his biggest asset was rushing the passer... ?? I dont know he played ok during the super bowl, but was not the blockbuster we all thought... This year he has quit...

What are the chances he can be traded?? OR is he exposed as just a JAG...if that??

Maybe that Brink's truck did something when it was backed up to his house...:)

Trade him, release him, suspend him, whatever it is...I do not expect AD playing on our team next year.

1. Hasnt produced at all. Being outplayed by Tully Banta Cain

2. Attitude problem. Cancer. Bad role model for young players.

There is absolutely no reason to have him on the team. Actually I hope he sits on the bench for the rest of the season. We don't need him. Benching or suspending him will send a strong msg to our true future... MAYO, GUYTON, MERIWEATHER, CHUNG, etc.... You don't take it serious, you sit on the bench and watch from the sidelines.

He got his money and that wa sit...the first year he was inside and that was OK..the next year, it was what..an injury? OK...and then now that he's healthy...he's a no show menatally...Not really what this team needed..at ALL!! A real disap[pointment, but unfortunately, this year there have been a bundle..from Galloway, which I think really stuck a knife into the offense as he was suppose to be the 3rd WR and could actually do things to Springs who was to be the vet that could help and has hardly been on the field to Burgess...THAT really hurts when there are vets that retire or are traded. Busts like these hurt deeply in the pocketbook and on the field.

Re: Curran: " Adalius Thomas, He's gone"

Cap ramifications?

Miguel???

In 2010 Thomas' cap hit is scheduled to be $9.4 million.
$4.9 million in salary
$4.4 million in prorated signing bonus amortization
107K in offseason bonus money.

Releasing Thomas in March would make his cap hit in 2010 $4.4 million and in 2011 $4.4 million.

The Pats can not afford to release Thomas this season as $8.8 million would hit the 2009 cap.

Re: Curran: " Adalius Thomas, He's gone"

Both ......kinda.

He has completely given up on the field and more than likely will be cut

Please.
There is something called the salary cap.
Really, there is.
Cut him this season and the cap hit would cause BB to have to cut other valuable players.

I'm assuming he means "cut this offseason."

If BB could have cut Thomas this season, he very well might have.

He will be cut and sign somewhere and actually be decent.

He was a passrusher and BB played him at ILB for a year and then kept dropping him in coverage. He was never let to pass rush now with burgess this year.

so its is failed signing on his end too.he does not want to be here doing the covering rb/fb like a ILB ,Setting edge against the run and dropping in coverage in shallow zones.

When he is cut might as well get used to him going on the jets, since his ex dc is the hc of the nyj:D

I met Adalius last night. He was at the same restaurant in RI that my company party was. I didn't want to disturb him so I waited until he got up to leave and I tried to shake his hand, but he would only give me a fist bump.

He was probably confused. Did you do the whole go to shake someone's hand and then then switch over to fist bump but then switch back over to handshake thing?

Maybe he was in a bad mood because he doesn't like snow.

Not exactly. First he did the try-to-ignore-me thing. Then he did the look-at-me-mean thing. Then he did the I'm-afraid-of-germs-so-I-won't-shake-your-dirty-little-hand-but-I'll-give-you-a-quick-bump-if-you-get-out-of-my-*******-face thing.

It was not nearly as nice as the times I've met Koppen and Wilfork.

He might have been mad because during our party I was pretending to be a QB and barking out signals at the line "96 is the mike!".

That's true.

we don't have a third round pick this year. hopefully someone sees his value and will take on the last two years

How can he be cut without taking a huge cap hit on his way out the door?
