Re: The Bill Belichick Appreciation Thread

Puts winning, then team before everything else. THAT is the reason why in Bill we trust.

#3 Challenges conventional wisdom

If bold decisions worked most of the time, they wouldn't be bold decisions--they would be the conventional wisdom.

Re: The Bill Belichick Appreciation Thread

BB = Big Balls :D

Re: The Bill Belichick Appreciation Thread

There's a "why do you hate the Colts" thread already up, so I thought I'd turn this on the positive, and help us remember that we really do have the best coach in the NFL.

Why do you appreciate Bill Belichick?

1. Tirelessly prepares for games.
2. Encyclopedic knowledge of football.
3. Challenges conventional wisdom.
4. While other coaches brag about how great they are on and off the field, BB does it without any fanfare.
5. Great talent evaluator.
6. Not afraid of making unpopular decisions if he thinks it's best for the team.

All of those things. But, in addition, BB coaches with integrity. He takes responsibility and admits to mistakes, but never blames others, makes excusess, is haunted by past mistakes, is afraid to make the tough decision, or cow-tows to the league.

Re: The Bill Belichick Appreciation Thread

Great call by the coach. That was the one way to guarantee a victory and he believed his offense could do it.

I'm sick of people trying to find ways Bill is not perfect. Nobody is, but Bill does his job as well as anybody ever has and I'm not complain about what he does, (well, except for continuing to play Maroney over Green Ellis).

"In Bill I trust"

Re: The Bill Belichick Appreciation Thread

lame thread

Re: The Bill Belichick Appreciation Thread

I like the fact that he makes no excuses and has no regrets over decisions that don't work. He could care less what the media and other so-called esperts say. There is a reason some people work at ESPN and the NFL Network and not coaching in the NFL.

Re: The Bill Belichick Appreciation Thread

BB is the man, I never second guess him, he knows more then me......

Glad he's here and glad he takes chances, I would not want some run of the mill coach, I want a coach with balls.

Re: The Bill Belichick Appreciation Thread

Thank you BB.

dude, you stole my avatar.

i've said it before. I'm ok with BB's decision.

Re: The Bill Belichick Appreciation Thread

If he were haunted by past mistakes maybe he would have remembered that he mismanaged the clock badly in Indy twice before. Maybe he would have had that in the back of his mind this time around.

Please explain how he mismanaged the clock in Indy, twice.

Re: The Bill Belichick Appreciation Thread

It's the big things (like wins!) and all the little things (like this) -

BB was asked if he ever cried in front of his team. He could have easily used this opportunity to take a little jab at a division rival HC, or at least say "no" to make Wrecks look bad by comparison, but instead:

Coach says, in 35 years, I've probably done it all, "I think I swore once, too."

Classy and funny.

Mostly by using timeouts when they didn't need to. Remember Matt Cassel getting first down yardage on a QB sneak and BB running up the sidelines calling a timeout.

Or the time when BB had timeouts in the AFCCG and let the Colt whittle the clock to nothing before finally calling one.
