What is the point of these threads?
To show how smug and arrogant you can be?

You must have missed him getting scorched by the G-men?
Why is it arrogant to ask why a player many here thought would be a major contributer was on the bench?
Did we have a bad specials team performance against the best S/T in the NFL?
.......what's your point?.......He might have recovered McKelvin's fumble faster than Ghost?
I agree with you.
Chung is not one of our top special teamers, as many thought he would be. He is not even good enough at this point to be on the field. It seems that Chung is a developmental safety AND special teamer. That's fine. Youngsters have different learning curves.
Where was Meriweather, drafted #23, after his first game ? And since when was Chung drafted because of special teams ? He was drafted to develop as a starting Safety. We are deep there right now. I guess I would like him to be ahead of McGowan, and a good LB might look good instead of Chung but it can't be helped that two ILB are out. Belichick plays guys when they're ready; sometimes that's game one, sometimes it's not. The fact that he can help on special teams is a bonus but not the reason he was drafted.I though he was drafted at #34 because he was such a special teams dynamo. Where was Chung and why?

Butler was in for 1/3 of the defensive plays according to Reiss. But, sure, I think we all knew it wasn't a team needing a ton of starters. Chung is playing on ST (admittedly I don't know how many) and all four of the 2nd rounders looked good in camp. From there, we'll see. If the injury bug had hit at Safety and not ILB then he'd already be playing.I'm fine with Chung taking a year to develop. I ask the question because I believe that many thought that he would be contributing early on special teams.
Absent injuries, there is no reason for rookies to be expected to contribute a lot in their first year.
When you do it for each player and do so in a mocking tone, it ceases to be curiosity and becomes smugness.
Though, I am sure you are aware of this.

Let's see at the end of the season how much Chung has contributed, not at the end of the first game.
BB is notoriously conservative about bringing along rookies, with relatively few exceptions, such as Mayo, which was partly out of necessity. There is no urgency to rush the rookies in, so I'm not surprised that he is taking the conservative approach. That's his track record.
Do I think that Brace, Chung, Butler and Vollmer are all capable of playing and contributing sooner rather than later? Yes. Louis Delmas started for Detroit on Sunday and made a 65 yard nice fumble return for a TD. I preferred Delmas to Chung, but they are comparable talents. I have no doubt that Chung could play and contribute. But he would also make rookie mistakes, and we have a far different level of talent than Detroit.
As far as ST goes, we may well see Chung. BB has a history of valuing players who are good STers, and Chung had that reputation. I don't think anyone expected him to come in and immediately become the core of our ST focus, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him contribute substantially over the course of the season, as he earns playing time. That's what happened with Meriweather, who didn't do too poorly for us on STs Monday night.
As with Ron Brace and Darius Butler, I consider Chung to be much more talented with a much higher ceiling than the player who is currently starting ahead of him. Therefore I look forward to seeing him get playing time as soon as BB is comfortable, and I hope that that will be sooner rather than later. That's all. There's no fixed timeframe.
