Factor in that Wilhite and Guyton and Mayo started - three rookies...Given the fact Warren was out, Wilfork went out early, Bruschi left before the half, Sanders left before the half and Vrabel took some damage, I am not complaining. I was actually wondering if the trainers were suiting up to take the field with all the missing players.
A win is a win. The defense played better in the second half and the offense picked up the slack. That is one more win than the Jets can claim today.
He fumbled at the end.Seneca Wallace carved us like a Thanksgiving turkey... wow.
The D is getting better, there is no doubt. Something caused a spark, because in the second half, they were quite good.
Did anyone watch the Giants D today, perchance?
The team is 8-5 and tied for first place in the division despite a horrendous season injury-wise. I think it's just awesome that we can put that behind us, even after a win, and piss and moan about a defense with at least one backup or rookie playing at every level.
Hard to say they misjudged CBs, O'Neil was meant to be a stopgap until Wheatley matured, losing Wheatley led to a shift and today Wilhite stepped up and started - he played well, the pull up on Wallace's scramble is partly a rookie mistake and partly Goodall wimp wristed football - though shall not touch a QB near the sideline. Other than Meriweather getting toasted by Carlson a couple times (which is no surprise, I wanted to draft him last spring), the young guys (1st and 2nd year) out there should make us proud. It would be helpful to look at the defensive depth chart at the beginning of the year and the dept chart today.
But I will agree that the FO misjudged players to bring in at the CB position. Although the rookies should be so much better next year.
