1.) We may have seen Cassel take his game to the next level. I am not sure if he was that good or the Jets were that bad.
2.) Brilliant second half adjustments by both coordinators. Too bad the defense couldn't hold up the entire second half and there were too many mental mistakes in the first half. McDaniels and his staff get extra credit for totally neutralizing Kris Jenkins for most of the second half.
3.) Mental mistakes are killing this team. Watson holds onto the ball, the Pats probably win in regulation. They might have even scored on that bad snap drive. Gaffney should have held onto the ball, but it wasn't nearly as bad of a drop as two weeks ago.
4.) The emergence of the young players on defense is astounding. They need to work on their mental mistakes and coverages on certain plays, but I think we got some keepers at ILB and in the secondary.
5.) Too bad we didn't pull this one off. Looking at the Jets' sidelines, if they lost it would have been one that haunts them for a while. It was quite clear they got too hyped up in the first half that they nearly fell completely apart in the second half when things started to go against them. I have been hard on Favre this year, but I give him credit for holding the offense together.
6.) We face a tough battle for the division, but I am still pretty encouraged in a loss. I think the Pats have a good young core on defense for the rest of this year and in the future. I still think the Pats still have a shot for the division although it is that much harder now.

and 7.) Dont watch, hear, or read anything from any sports journalist outside of the few that are good in New England until the Miami game.

7) Damn good advice!

:agree: Great effort, incredible comeback, but those mistakes haunted. Even with all that there was some really really good stuff from our guys. Cassel, Mayo, Guyton,Woods, Big Sey had a couple of monster stops...good half time adjustments. Mistakes, and an "iffy call" or two.

here is my immediate thought:

am I the only one who wouldve been less upset if we would have lost the game by missing a 2 point conversion at the end?

I ain't with you there. You bring the game into overtime in that situation especially with the division lead on the line.

To loose by 1 point would have been worse.....to loose by a field goal in OT is at least respectable.....

Maybe if you were on the road then you would go for it but being at home kicking the PAT was the right call

I'm with you. Anytime Favre was unleashed, we couldn't stop him and Cotchery. 2 pt conversion, at least we keep the end of the game in our own control, not depending on a coin toss. IMO, BB needs to trust Cassel even more.

Um, no. Our defense stinks and is decimated. Go for the win at home.

Cassel scoring in the red zone when it counted, and coming up with the 2 point conversion, he whined about PI, but other then that I give this guy O player of the week.

Pats D missing a lot of starters, I was impressed with all of the young guys that filled in, and even more impressed with the heart they played with.

Good Pat coaching/game plan adjustments at half.

Brett and Ty,,,,,, I was impressed.

Our defense does not suck. They played a superb second half, especially when taking into consideration all the injuries they suffered. The 3rd and 15 play was absolutely inexcusable, but barring that, they made a lot of plays against the strong Jets offense in this game that will be forgotten by the loss.

I wanted them to go for 2. The way the D was gassed on the Jets last drive, I knew whoever won the coin toss was probably going to win, so why go with 50/50 chance. You have a better shot at 2, esp. with all that momentum. Oh well.

Hindsight ...

As for the OP, I think #3:

3.) Mental mistakes are killing this team. Watson holds onto the ball, the Pats probably win in regulation. They might have even scored on that bad snap drive. Gaffney should have held onto the ball, but it wasn't nearly as bad of a drop as two weeks ago.

... is the biggest issue. This team is not good enough to overcome multiple bonehead plays. One is possible; but two, way too much. And just forget three ...

BTW, the way he drops passes and/or runs route one yard shy of the first down marker (added bonus -- he'll also fumble!), my new nickname for Ben Watson is The Drive Killer.

Brett and Ty,,,,,, I was impressed.

Brett did good. Ty? You're joking, right? He helped us almost get that back. Or is that what was impressive? His double-agentness?

Any congrats. Enjoy it a lot. 7-9 is a real step up. ;)

Mayo is a beast! So is Gholston on IR or something, I don't really keep up with Jets news.

Good effort by Cassel. The LB corps looks promising for the future with Mayo, Woods, and Guyton.

Pats just made more mistakes this game and lost. Too many FGs in the 1st half and blown chances in the 3rd quarter.

The Vrable call at the end was bogus (but wouldn't have matter, I think Pats would have settled for FG at the end to tie). And the refs missed a grounding call in the 1st half on Favre. I did not see a tip on the one replay they showed.

Hopefully they can get back on track next week!

Nope. I feel the same way.

Giving up a 1st down in OT on a 3rd and 15 deserves little 'respect.' I am a bit perturbed...but will feel much better after beating Miami.

I think Brett played good when it counted and Ty played poorly when it counted. As Collinsworth pointed out, Law played well when he could bump Moss at the line of scrimmage and he knew he was getting the double team over the top. Law fell apart when covering Gaffney and on the final play in regulation. Brett was inconsistent, but did lead the team on two crucial drives at the end of the game.

Bump....

And remember.....Just say no to ESPN.....
