Your NUMBER ONE priority for the offseason is....

Kraft is ripping the NE fans off....we pay top dollar and have one of the lowest payrolls. RIPOFF. Spend our money.
I guess the 'Patriots are cheap' and 'Kraft is cheap' talk is not going to go away anytime soon; at this point it's been repeated so many times that many assume it must be true. But you first might want to consider this:

NFP Sunday Blitz | National Football Post
The Patriots were the best team money could buy in 2010. You don’t think of them as a collection of high priced superstars, but a league source said the Patriots had the highest payroll in the NFL at $148 million.

The other thing you may want to consider is how well the fiscally responsible teams such as the Patriots, Steelers and Colts have done in the free agency/salary cap era, and compare that to how free-spending, willing to overpay teams like the Redskins, Raiders and Cowboys have done in the same time period.

Sorry for derailing the subject of this thread; back to the original topic. I'd say number one priority is to sign Logan Mankins. The best way to get the Pats offense off track is with pressure up the middle, and Mankins is the Pats best interior lineman.

If we're assuming that Mankins remains on the roster then I would say on upgrade at OLB. I appreciate the efforts of TBC and Ninkovich, but the Pats need more productivity at this spot. DE is a close second but we could be okay for now with the two Warrens, so if I have to pick just one thing it is the pass rush - and I'm going to go OLB over DE as the #1 position for improvement.

A friggin pass rusher!

Tamba Hali if he's available but i doubt this team would do that.We will get a Richard Seymour type DE with the 17th pick.I want Cameron Heyward.

Well it's not about realism so much as dream scenario, so yes, Tamba Hali is available If we can get a Seymour type DE in the draft, that'd be amazing, especially paired with a healthy Ty Warren.

Indeed, suring up the interior offensive line is priority numero uno in my opinion. I agree with the person who suggested Carl Nicks. He is a great player and would be an outstanding addition.

DeAngelo Hall will, IMHO, be available.

If Belichick continues to avoid getting any kind of pass rush help ( it's baffling honestly) then at least get a guy with some bell cow traits. That will relieve Brady from the pressure to win games by himself and balance their offense. Also rest their young defense with ball control.

Belichick simply refuses to invest heavily into his offensive line and pass rushers, then at least get a RB who can try to make something out of nothing based on talent.

Pass rush pass rush pass rush.

Tamba Hali would be my wet dream.

Using your one man only scenario:

Add Carl Nicks at right guard. Then the team could use the draft to grab

DE
OLB
WR
RB

and go from there.

I love the Seymour suggestion that BradyFTW! made, but Nicks is only 25 and, combined with Mankins and/or Gronkowski pulling, would make the Vollmer/Nicks side of the line an absolute horror show for opponents trying to shut down the run.

I heard that Nicks is too big for our pulling scheme, I was wondering if Ryan Khalil would be a better fit. I would add Vincent Jackson or Lamarr Woodley. A big widereceiver for Brady with a strong work ethic as well as the physicality to go against any CB in the league (Revis). Lamarr Woodley would be a significant upgrade over TBC and Ninkovich. A third down lineup of Woodley and Cunningham with two healthy DE's would end the passrush problem. Ill go with Woodley for now.

We need to bring in some vets, even if their 3rd or 4th stringers, to get over this playoff hump. Having a great draft means nothing come playoffs.

Let this young team grow together, they will get better. I think there were enough college captains that some will become leaders on this team.

The draft is where its at for the Patriots this year. DT, OG, C, WR, OLB and RB are the positions that need to be addressed.

Seriously, everyone, if you're going to tune in to the AFCCG, watch Pouncey. I don't usually watch for OL play, but he's just fun to observe. Absolutely manhandles people, I love it.

His brother is the same way and plays RG. If I can find some video of him mauling people after this, I'll send it to you.

Me? Lamarr Woodley. The man is a monster in the pass rush, is good in run support, can set the edge, and is a sure tackler. Sign him then use the first two picks on a DE and a RG (preferably Pouncey). Trade up if needed for a WR. Look for a center later on.

Sign a wide receiver as well but too bad, BB will end up making a WTF pick and most of us will be pissed until that player turns out to be a pro bowler within 2 years.

DE, Seymour is a once in a life time get. I would settle for Seymour light.

If he could snap the ball properly he would be every bit as good at center as Maurkice.

After seeing Sanchez able to grab a hot dog in the pocket and eat it before completing a pass on Sunday shows me we need to dump bums like Banta Cain and get us a real pass rusher...Cain had 10 sacks in 2009 but 5 of those were against the Bills..enuff said

That's because his natural position isn't center.

One guy? A "Clock Killin Corey Dillon" type. I just don't know how many of those type of guys are in the league these.

I am with you on this. A dominant OLB would be a close second but I think a dominant RB is more fun to watch and olb might solve the last problem on D but rb takes pressure off both the D and Brady.

IMO the offseason priority should be resigning both Light and Mankins or adequately replacing the two most other problems can be filled through the draft. And with those two thoughts in mind it makes the premise of this thread pretty good because I would imagine after the above there would still be room for one splash. Not sure if there is a RB out there who would qualify but thats my choice a proven and ideally not as close to the end stud back like Dillon.

Sounds good, let's get that mike pouncey guy.

another variation on this thread would be:

We have 3 of the top 33 picks in the draft and lets assume like in Madden this can get you any player you want in the entire NFL who is it?

For a center, that's a pretty big if.

I'm well aware of that, just seen him play there for the Gators in a couple of games. He had too many bad snaps unfortunately but everything else was excellent, he is real quick to get up into his blocking. Just a pity about the snaps. He is a premium guard though.
