Dobbs was fully guaranteed $3.8m when signed
Dobbs cap hit this season is $2.9m. if he is cut his dead cap hit is $2.7m this year and $1.05 next year
he is not going anywhere.
The dollars mean little if there is a decision to move on. Judon has dead cap hits of 7.9 million last year and 2.3 million this year. Smith-Schuster was 9.6 million in 2024 and 2.6 million in 2025. There’s more than one reason to keep a player but being hell bent over keeping one over several million isnt high on the list. It’s par for the course to take on dead cap and teams regularly choose to vs. always being locked in on every deal.

I realize he was facing off against third and fourth (and even 5th) stringers...

But he was without question the most fun QB to watch of the night.

Threw a nice ball. Seem to have command of whatever offense he's absorbed so far.

Had a couple passes tipped....but nothing that got him in major trouble.

If he continues that steadiness over the next couple of preseason games....

He'll be hard to protect on the practice squad.
He'll end up on the PS. He has more upside than Dobbs, but we have a veteran backup because we have a 2nd yr starter. It's probably going to be that way for a while, I can't see Vrabel rolling with 2 unexperienced QBs. Belichick always had that veteran QB presence when Brady was young, as well as the developmental guy. I see Vrabel following that template for a while.

How many teams carry 2 QB's and how many more on the 53? There is no effect on the active roster since a 3rd QB can be active used without counting toward the active roster.

The emergency 3rd QB must be on the 53 man roster, so it’s likely that a 3rd QB whether it’s Wooldridge or another QB claimed or signed after cutdowns will be added back to the 53 even if they cut down to 2 QBs initially.

Do the rules allow the 3rd QB to be activated from the Practice Squad? I didn't think that this would be allowed.
