Will this team win the superbowl? (hint: no)

Just a couple of thoughts--@patfanken style:

1) As a fellow poster who enjoys everyone on this forum, I have some concerns that you have made it difficult to continue to post here just due to your history. For whatever reason, I honestly have a hunch that you're a good dude, but you'll never get the benefit of the doubt here again. It sucks that you didn't choose to bring up some concerns in a bit of a different manner vs. the route that you've chosen the past couple of threads. That's all I'm saying. The truth of the matter is that MOST of us were concerned about the defense early in the season, and MANY are concerned about some postseason obstacles, but for whatever reason, you seem to corner the market on starting pessimistic threads.

2) While I agree that this probably isn't going to be our year based off of what I've seen in the majority of the past 8 games mostly due to injuries, I still have plenty of hope that they'll come out with one of those "statement" kind of games in the divisional round. Should that occur, this team would still be in a fine position to go to the SB--if not win the whole thing. In that aspect, we don't really share the same exact opinion, and even if we did, I wouldn't want to go on a fan site and out myself with a negative thread that brings my online friends down. Not calling you out, just stating that we need to remember that it's a fan site and respect that.

3) No one should be calling you a moron, but some of your past behavior has made it easier to justify. As @Tunescribe pointed out, it's pretty much the definition of being a troll with the pot-stirring comments. Just something to think about.

4) Magic would indeed be nice right about now, so head on over to YouTube and watch this:

thanks again for the respectful reply. i understand that my views, or rather my method of expressing my views, have made it hard for anyone to agree with me due to previous history. to be honest, that doesn't bother me at all. if someone criticizes what is said based on who says it rather than the content, then i don't have much respect for that person's opinion anyway. maybe they are convinced that i'm just some troll who secretly hates the patriots just because i am pessimistic more often than not, and that leads them to believe i'm not being honest about my evaluation... in which case, i still don't respect their opinion. all i ask is for people to read and evaluate the topic without taking their personal opinion of me into consideration. it seems that is too much to handle for some people. my prediction of CIN/DEN in the superbowl is not that absurd.

i'm not trying to make pot-stirring comments. if that is what my opinions do, then so be it. just because i don't expect the patriots to do well this year does not make me a troll or a fake fan. i expected them to win the superbowl last year... this year, there are too many question marks and they are reeling at the wrong time.

i know this is a fan site, and i do respect that... but let's not act like Saudi Arabia/UAE's government here and outlaw any negative comment. am i just supposed to blindly believe they will win when everything i'm seeing tells me the chances are slim?

for the record, i give the patriots a 50/50 shot in the divisional game and a 25% shot in the afccg against DEN.

I think DEN/CIN both have better chances and I think that will be the AFCCG this year. If KC pulls off an upset, I think one of DEN or CIN will be in the superbowl. I'm sorry if that gets anyones panties in a bunch.

sincerely yours,

"moron"

I'm a Patriots fan. I'm not a general football fan, or a fantasy fan, or a guy who likes whatever team is good that year.

Patsfans is the name of the site.

I'm not clairvoyant, I don't care who wins if we don't and I don't quit on the team if we are in the playoffs no matter what.

All I care about is what we need to do to win with the personnel we have or will get back. I think we've got a good chance, but we always have a chance if we're in the playoffs, because football's take funny bounces.

I don't really care for bandwagon front runners who remember a reality which never existed, where only teams who play perfect ball and have no weaknesses or injuries and whose QBs never get their shirts dirty can possibly win.

Just my opinion, but if you can't even be a fan for three games in the post season, maybe a site called Patsfans isn't for you.

I can be a fan without believing we will win. If you were a fan of Houston, would you really believe your team was gonna make the superbowl? Probably not. I know our chances are much better, but that doesn't mean I HAVE to believe we will make it in order to be considered a fan. I'm not "quitting on the team." I'm not a player, I don't have to believe we will win for us to win. I'm still watching the games and hoping for the best. That doesn't mean I have to expect the best.
Hoping for victory means i am a fan. I can be a fan in the post season.
What you're asking me to do is believe that we will win every game or Patsfans isn't for me, which is ridiculous. If you're not asking me to believe we will win every game, then we're not disagreeing on anything.

OP has to remember though that he will have to live and die by his sword.

If the Patriots do make a run and win it all, everything and anything with this thread will be thrown towards him. This thread won't die for a long, long time if that's the case.

I hope you're right!

On the other hand, if I am right, I won't get to "live by my sword" because this thread will quickly die and everyone calling me a moron would refuse to acknowledge that they were the ones who were wrong.

I wonder how quickly butthurt losers will want this straight to the practice squad after a loss because they cannot face realistic expectations of a sports team.

Thanks for the heads up I'm new here been lurking for a while, will take some time to learn the nuances of the board.

when someone claims another member of this board is a fan of an opposing team, what they really mean is "i don't agree with that person's opinion so i'm going to say they're a jets/broncos fan!"

Aaaaaand I'm done. Toodaloo

Dude, step away from the mirror and just let this thread die......

I'd be impressed if someone asked the question about a team's chances to win the Superbowl and then hint us with a yes answer. I'm not impressed at all with a guy that hints a no for a single team in a field of 16 teams. Even now you havent picked a team to win the AFC let alone the Superbowl.

I think Denver will win the AFC.

I'm hoping another one of these threads will lead to me being proven wrong again.

But in all honesty, the Steelers cannot stop the Bengals. They will be one dimensional without Bell and Williams, against a good secondary.
The patriots will play the Bengals and there are too many questions on our offense for us to thrive against that defense. Even if our line held up and Edelman played up to Edelman-levels, the game right after would be heading into Denver, somewhere the Patriots have shown they cannot win. Denver is not going to lose to KC or Houston. And if we got through that? Arizona or Carolina.

Patriots vs Bengals.
Denver vs KC/Houston.

Denver is going to the superbowl and they'll beat either the Bengals or the Patriots to get there... I think Carolina has the best chance of stopping them in the Super Bowl.

If we had the #1 seed, it would be a different story... This was always about who got the #1 seed, NE or DEN. Same story as almost every year since Manning went to Denver.

To the babies on this board:
no, i am not a troll because we disagree.
keep your personal insults to yourself.
yes, i do support the patriots and hope i am wrong.
no, i wouldn't rather be right than see the patriots win the super bowl.

if you tell me i'm wrong and stupid, i expect you to come admit your stupidity when this plays out how i expected.

I'm not sure if you're wrong, but if you are, you need to let Peyton drop his ball sack on your face. Deal?

I think Denver will win the AFC.
well that's an improvement over earlier tonight when u gave cincy an equal chance. Now that they're down 9-0 zip with less than a half to go you get bold. When did you pick KC, when they were up 27-0? again, when u pick one team out of a field of 16 to not win it all don't expect too many pats on the back for your wonderful insight. Pick the winner, not the losers. You were apparently way wrong about Cincy earlier tonight. Your predictions are not that good after all, are they?

So, you're hoping we lose.

I get it, don't worry.

My only options are to expect the patriots to win or hope they lose? I cannot expect a team to lose but hope they win? Ignorant.
Do you think Bucs fans expect to win every game? Did everyone expect the patriots to go 16-0? No. Expecting a loss is not the same as hoping they lose. Stop showing your idiocy.

Your options are to go to a general NFL site, or continuously try to provoke actual fans with your BS to get attention.

I, personally, root for my team and if i expected they'd lose, I wouldn't bother watching.

My only concern is, what do we need to do to give us the best chance of winning the next game? Of course, realistically, with a banged up team, that means having priorities, since the playoffs are one and done if you lose.

This thread is just poison.

Thought the best place for this is the PS - the inane 'woe is me' spam from the OP is intellectually repellent.

Anyone who believes this is just a misunderstood realist needs their headchecked - its a little kid who craves the attention.

Practice squad it, pretty please!

Can you imagine this kid's real life?

Well the very first sentence of your post that the Steelers could not beat the Bengals and to expect the Pats to face Cincinnati was dead wrong. Let's hope the rest of your post is just as wrong.

He also claimed the Patriots wouldn't be a to 10 defense and they were. Basically he's calling Patriot fans homers because they believe their team, had a chance to win the Super Bowl, and most are, in the 20% to30% zone, which is slightly above the oddsmakers at 20%. That's hardly homerism and given their track record is much closer to realism. So he's saying that if his 80% chance comes through he's owed an apology for betting, on the rest of the league against the Patriots. When what he really deserves is a ban for consistently trolling this forum.
