In NYC area today, the postponement announcement to Monday was accompanied by statement that both Jets and Giants also would be playing on Thursday as previously scheduled. Apparently both teams did not like it, but commish in essence said tough.

Yeah, the league wants all preseason games to be done on Thursday. It is better to cheat teams out of preparation time from preseason game #3 and preseason game #4 than cheat them out of days from preseason game #4 and the regular season. No way do they move that game.

That Giants squad will be mighty worn when they play the Pats...maybe we can do better than this one and the preseason chicken littles will go back into the barn while proclaiming we are once again dominant
It's an interesting dynamic. As of now, the Jets and Giants are scheduled to play on Thursday, despite only 3 days between games, I think the league wants the games to get done to give teams 10 days off before start of the season. Might be better to maybe bump both games, Jets/Eagles, Giants/Pats to Friday at the latest, won't bother either team too much, that and in both games it's usually bottom of the roster players playing anyway.

And also, the Pats don't play until Monday night anyway, so even if they play on Friday they would not be short changed on time to prepare vs the rest of the league. Not sure about those other teams.
The other dynamic is that roster cuts need to be made on Saturday, September 3rd, so pushing any Thursday games back cuts into the time that coaching staffs have for that final evaluation of players that are on the bubble. If any games do get postponed from Thursday that could have a domino effect of necessitating the deadline for roster cuts be pushed back as well - something I'm sure the league would like to avoid having to do if possible.
It will be a scrub game for both sides on Thursday. Giants will get their starters work in tomorrow's game. They don't need any more time with their backups playing us.
