I didn't know the Patriots let BB go and made Bob the head coach and GM.
How long have you been following this team? Kraft has never met a microphone he didn’t like.

Per various books over the years, Kraft is always involved in the strategy meetings. Generally more as a fly on the wall, but he wants to know what’s going on. So if there are planned changes in their usage, he’ll know about it.

i.e. : "we think Josh did a sh!t job getting those 2 guys involved"

This seems pretty consistent with the message (direct and "rumored") throughout the offseason: They all believe there's room to grow internally, and that is where the biggest positive impact will come from (if it comes) in 2022. No big splashes in FA this year. If the Pats are noticeably better in 2022 than they were in 2021, it will be because the 2nd year guys took 2nd year leaps:

Guys who played well in year 1 but could always be better:
Mac
Bourne
Henry
Stevenson
Barmore
Mills

Guys who contributed at times but didn't meet expectations:
Agholor
Smith
Godchaux (I personally think he was fine, but I know it's split on this board so I put him here)

Guys who barely played, either due to injury or development:
McGrone
Perkins
Bledsoe
MacMillan
Wade
Sherman
Anderson

All of them either 2nd year in the league, or 2nd year with the team. Not all of them will be better of course, but the hope is that several of them contribute more in 2022 than 2021.

EDIT: Added Mills, Godchaux, and Anderson.

My 2 cents...

Mac/Josh leaned on safe-high % / move the chains passes over the middle or to RBs releasing from backfield.
Meyer was the major beneficiary...finding space in the middle of the field, often on comeback routes that didn't produce much YAC.
This conservative philosophy didn't fit Agholar's skillset/routes

Note: Not absolving Agholar's lack of productivity, the guy had issues shaking coverage

Jonnu played like a rookie who hadn't adjusted to the speed of the NFL game.
Here's hoping a year in the NE system will settle him down.
When he did manage ball possession, his playmaking ability is obvious.
Athletically, he can be a difference maker.
The issue is grasping the system

I absolutely believe these two underperformers will provide more added value in 2022.
Their "jump" will depend on Mac's progression and Bill's tolerance for more game plan risk.
If NE continues to lean on a conservative station to station passing game, then both players will continue to disappoint us keyboard GMs

Sweet I was just thinking there isn't enough knocking down the hierarchy of this team on PatsFans.

Not winning.

The Pats last post season win was 2/3/2019. Meanwhile, Brady has won 5 post season games including a championship banner that should be Bobs.

When you reach his age the filter really starts to erode.
Exactly. Old people and very young people are brutally honest sometimes. They don't have to worry about "reputation" since they are no longer "in" the zeitgeist.

I get this question, about me, at home all the time. Not a mystery to my family; doubt it is a mystery at Patriots Place.

That quote is over a week old. There's no new information here.

He's talking about the $47M in guarantees that he's paying for with his legitimately-earned money he personally worked hard for.
Worked hard for. That part made me chuckle. Both for the usage of the word hard and for the assumption he - at this point - is at all involved in his businesses enough to influence the bottom line.

  • Agree
Reactions: TBR
Tommy Heinsohn in his final years was in full on “I will not even pretend to give a f.uck anymore” mode and it was special.

I don't get that. He has to spend to the cap one way or another.

Stop treating Jonnu like a receiving back and you'll get better value out of him. It seemed like every time he caught a pass it was a screen in the backfield. He's a better player than what we saw in 2021, but not the player this board was overrating when he had signed.

He made some very good plays with the Titans where they would actually have him run routes I know it’s a insane concept.
Only thing I can think of is he struggled picking up our route tree concepts and Josh gave him basic plays to get the ball in his hands as opposed to him making a mistake by cause a bad play or a turnover.

What’s the point you’re making here? Worked vs works. He did work hard to build his empire. Now he is reaping the rewards of said work.

Sounds like he's talking about play calling changes to get better use out of his investment.
