I wouldnt call it badly as the Card's never even scored a touchdown and neither oftheir recievers were amazing.
No but they did have a few wide open drops, but that's not what I'm saying. I thought the secondary did a good job overall, but if there's one individual I'd pick out of the secondary is not hot, it'd be Hobbs.

On Patriots 5th Quarter and Belichick's press conference, he actually had unequivocal positive things to say about Cassel. He flagged him as having a really good week of practice and noted that that usually carries over into the game. When asked to name a player who really showed up well, he didn't hesitate in saying that was Cassel.

We have obviously not been able to really judge whether good performances from Cassel starting with the Miami game are all that indicative or judge whether his problems are symptoms of shortcomings.

But this game I think does set a benchmark that we can actually say this guy looks pretty good and may be a really solid backup for Brady. It is, of course, still very much a preseason environment, but he looked like there is a good chance that he has IT. Pretty good feeling.

He has so much IT that if you squint just enough to blur the numbers he is looking freakishly like Tom. Footwork and mannerisms in the pocket. He's shadowing the guy he's expected to backup, and that is a best possible scenario for us (and long term for him). I think that was what Sharpe meant when he rather awkwardly said he wasn't competing for a job with Tom. Most non-starting QB's are trying to distingush and seperate themselves and perhaps appear as a viable alternative. Matt is just trying to be the best posisble Brady backup he can be.

How about Britt on the Not Hot list... comes in to replace O'C, get's beaten and next play O'C is back. When he was back in later, sounded like he had trouble clearing the passing lane as well. (This is all just heresay for me though, somebody correct me if I'm wrong).
Sure, but how much exposure has he had to first team speed? One play isn't a good measure, how did he do when he went back in?

Who's Not ? Mr. Branch. Hardly missed you out there buddy.

Cassel is gold, not only is he a good QB, he's gonna do what we hoped Davey would - pay dividends with a nice draft pick down the line.

I heard a few people bashing Caldwell...I didnt see some of the second drive but did he drop a pass or something. I didnt see anything amazing but I thought he caught most what was thrown at him, or else it wasnt a good pass.

bam childress really impressed me.

and i think Willie Andrews should be cut, he sucks.

The number one "Who's Not" has to be Deion Branch.

Almost three hundred yards to 16 different receivers with 75% completion rate has to weaken Branch's bargaining position.

You have GOT to be making that up. I don't think even Madden would say something that dumb.
Oh no, that is dead on the money. Fortunately, I have been inoculated, patchick must be heading for the ER right now!

NFL Network announcing team. I'm usually pretty tolerant of announcers, but that was painful. The 432 repetitions of "decisive" were bad enough, but the knockout punch came after a nice play by Troy Brown:

"You can't teach that! That's learned behavior!"

:violent:

I remember hearing that and thinking, what did he just say? lol. Glad somoneelse caught that gem too.

I didn't see him drop anything. There was a bomb that Sharpe claimed he stopped running on, but I didn't notice anything on the replay. He looked fine to me. Actually made a pretty nice catch on a low throw from Brady.

What sucks, his solid punt returns or the dropped pass that he got playing a new position. OK, he fumbled one punt. He doesn't suck. And he won't be cut.

They just asked BB what he thought of Leinart. You know he doesn't like to comment on other teams players, but his answer had a neat little edge: "I like the QB we got from USC". He is almost waxing poetic about Matt (by BB standards).

He followed that up by saying Leinart looked like he could run.

I think that depends on (A) how desperate teams are for backups, and/or (B) how long Brady wants to keep passing. If Brady gets another extension, I don't think the Pats'll be able to hang on to Cassel that long.

Gotta admit though, it's hard not to like a passer rating of 133.8! :rocker:

Golly but you folks have funny notions. Andrews has already made the team and he just reenforced it tonight.

Yeah I think his drop was no big deal because:

1) He is brand new at the position.
2) The ball was an absolute bullet from Cassel.
3) He actually ran a nice route and got open.

Well, if he keeps showing the versatility he has so far, hes going to make the team. Also, like ur name. Great band.

Yeah, I didnt see how Caldwell would have got that. Even Brady says that pass last week was tipped in the endzone. He isnt amazing but he should be a good reciever for Brady.

Oh, and missing off the Hot list should be Asante Samuel. One pick, and a almost pick - same as last week.

Have you seen BB's final 53 already? He looked very raw, or like a player who really hasn't found his niche yet. Talent and a competitive spirit are what you need and he has those two qualities, so he probably will make it, but he's no lock.

That was a bullet but he tried to catch it with his chest instead of his hands. He'll learn and he has time to do so. Not like he's going to step in and be a starting receiver. I thought he looked good on KRs
