After adding Tavai and Murphy, we have 17 front 7 players. We cut no one. "Normal is 15. We need a safety. We just signed Grant to the PS. We need to bring a RB, presumably Jennings, to the 53. We might pick up someone or two in trade.

Who should we cut or trade to make room for the RB and other players?

GREGORY
JENNINGS
MAPU
PONDER
WHITE

My bias is to cut at least two players. We need to add a RB and at least one more (perhaps a safety).

Nobody unless there's a trade on the table. Posters wanted to get rid of Rham during the offseason. As inconsistent as he is, it would've been a bad move.

Eric Gregory hasn't played a snap yet unless I missed it so seems he'd be a candidate. Wouldn't surprise me if they add a better depth EDGE piece for the scheme but shipped Jennings and White out in that deal or follow ups to where you swap those two for one actual rotation EDGE. Cory Durden hasn't played much either and I wouldn't say Caleb Murphy is guaranteed to stick.

I disagree though that they absolutely HAVE to cut two players just for the sake of having the "right" number of guys everywhere. You have to go by the guys on your roster and sometimes it gets a bit imbalanced and some positions steal numbers from a different one. Our safety depth chart is weak and we simply have more roster worthy LBs, for example. We don't have a 3rd TE (unless you count Hollins) which makes keeping 6 WRs like we are easier to do.

There are candidates at other positions too if there's a crunch. I do think we're at a point where any front 7 player in likely means someone out, at least one for one.

Jack Westover at FB doesn't seem like anything special. They need someone for the role but maybe they could have a practice squad elevation type. That just kicks the can though because eventually they'll need someone full time when elevations run out.

Rostering Chism when he's not earned any playing time as a receiver while also rostering Williams in what's mostly been a redshirt year is pretty duplicative.

Do they need DeVito as a 3rd QB on the active roster?

Charles Woods hasn't done much as CB5 and that could be a role they go with practice squad guys for if they needed space.

so, who do you have as our active RB's next week?

Henderson, Stevenson, Jennings.

Same as last week.
Same as the week before.
I agree.

But I was responding to TheRainMaker who wasn't cutting anyone. If Jennings is active, some needs to be cut.

I'd be more comfortable with an additional RB on the roster.
If that is the case, then Gregory should be the most likely to go, based on his lack of playing time.
Once he clears waivers Gregory can be re-signed to the practice squad.

Jennings is still eligible to be elevated two more times, but after that he would need to be signed to the 53.
May as well make that move now, eliminate the possibilty of some team signing Jennings off the PS.

Any street free agents are going to be questionable; how long would it take them to get into genuine football shape?
Is there some worthwhile RB being shopped in a potential trade?
I'm not aware of any, but I don't follow the talking head sports gossip shows either.

I'm hesitant to have this team trade away draft picks, for a player that'll be a free agent next March.
That's for genuine super bowl contenders that are nearing the end of their run. The Pats aren't there yet.

I don't think Jennings can be elevated from the practice squad anymore. So if he's active, you had to have cut someone to get him on the 53.

cut no one until you have someone to bring in... there's no reason to leave a hole in the roster when you don't have to...

???

I want to bring in Jennings to play RB.

This is a bait and switch. The tittle is one thing the but actual poll question is another. I selected White and Gregory because I'm open to trading them....but I'm not for outright cutting them. I am removing my vote!

So, if we sign a RB and someone else, who you would cut someone else from the roster. Who are the two that you would cut?

I don't understand the question. Posters wanted Rham gone before this season started. As much as I don't like Rham, injuries are getting out of hand in the NFL which was why I was opposed to trading him. Gibson was a big loss and would've made the subtraction of Rham as massive mistake. Henderson is not ready to be a lead back on a weekly basis.
