100% the Welker catch. The onus is on the offense to win that game as the defense played great and spent a large majority of the game on the field. Sure, Eli could have had some time left in a best case scenario, but what's to say the offense doesn't get another first down after moving the ball down the field effortlessly there? Or score a TD? The game was likely over right there.

The game was going to go down to the wire, so to me, the turning point was going to come in a situation where someone had to make a big play in a key spot in the final 5 minutes. That was it. That was a play that should have been made that would have put the Pats in a major driver seat. That's a catch a pro bowler makes easy.

That play was at 4:06. He catches it and the clock runs down to 3:22 before they have to run another play. Worst case scenario--three and out, we're still under 2 minutes when we kick the FG. Eli scares me, but going 80 yards for a TD in under two minutes with 1 timeout is asking an awful lot.

But it would have been first down.

Do the math: 35 seconds + 7 seconds per play for three downs = 125 seconds. The FG kick would come AFTER the 2 minute warning even IF the Patriots can't convert another 1st down.

Brady underthrew a a bomb to an incapacitated receiver for an interception. If they go about that drive without that temptation, who knows how the game would have turned.
Welker dropped pass was crtitical to the game.
Hernandez dropped a huge pass that was critical in the last drive.
Penalty for too many men on the field. (ironic the penalty on Giants for too many men on the field actually helped the Giants with the clock. That's how the day went)
All Mistakes. You can pick which ever one as critical. When thrown together, the get compounded into a TEAM loss.

People pinning this one mainly on Brady are morons or trolls. People blaming Welker must be comatose--they were putting the team on Welker''s back after they conceded that Gronk was ineffective and he was making one clutch catch after another as he always does.

As someone else said in another thread, the INT Brady threw was like watching a train wreck in very slow motion. 10-10 on one drive, 14 in a row record--whatever; the INT was an inexcusable decision in light of the Ravens game where, but for Billy Cundiff, the same type decision loses us the game.

And I'm torn on Brady basically spotting the G-men 9 points before 3:00 minutes had elapsed in the game, which just killed us. I've seen that same type of deep throw NOT called intentional grounding more than a few times. Receivers typically break off their routes on plays like that. Could have been called either way, but the refs didn't do us any favors on that one.

The Pats just keep putting too much on Brady's shoulders year after year--definition of insanity.

I love Wes Welker, but he cost us the game. If he makes that catch, all we needed was one more first down and the game was over. The Giants had only one TO left and the two-minute warning. One first down and the game was over.

But honestly, I'm not even mad about the result. Sure, I'm VERY dissapointed, but it was a great game. We lost to a great team. You're still young and Brady still has gas left in the tank. Great game, dissapointing result.
