Which one of these running Backs will not be with the Pats at the start of the Season

i agree.Kevin has better hands and is quicker while Pass has the speed and versatility..when Faulk got the chance to start at RB..he didnt excel. his career avg is 3.7 while Pass has a 4.1 avg. Pass brings RB/FB in him so wherever we need him..hes there. Pass fumbles every 41 carries. He has 3 career fumbles in 122 carries. Faulk fumbles every 29 carries. So breaking it down

Better runner: Pass
Better receiver: Faulk
Ball security: Pass
Versatility: Pass(FB,RB,KR)

Pass has had 200 yards receiving over last 2 season so thats pretty good. Use Pass as #3 RB..#2 FB

Evans is a scrub. He did a nice job for us, and I liked watching the guy, but he was a street free agent. He'll be out.

Pass is another possible cut. He's proven to be a pretty versatile and productive player, unlike some others here, I doubt the "hamstring" fumble is has any negative affect on whether or not he remains on the team, at least not more than any other fumble. Pass vs. Mills is going to be quite a battle. One of them has to be gone, we just don;t have the roster spots for both. If we cut Pass, he'll definitely get picked up by another team.

They'll be 5 spots for backs, most likely.

Pass doesn't have alot of carries so the freak hami blowout fumble really skews his average.

I'm fairly certain this is one of the reasons why Bill B expended a first round pick on a RB. He wants a clock eating reliable running game. If Faulk is in there it's high risk.

There's simply no way that they carry 5 RBs. In fact, the most usual complement by far on a Belichick roster is 3 TEs and 3 RBs. When players have been temporarily injured, it goes to 7. At the moment, it looks very much like Thomas is the 3rd tight end on the depth chart. With Maroney on board, that means Pass or Faulk is odd man out. However, Mills raises the very intersting possibility of a swing player between TE and RB. That's something that Belichick has stated and shown that he values highly - versatility. So he might carry 7 if the 7th is Mills making the roster. But that still leaves out Faulk or Pass. Dillon rarely is used as a receiver and Maroney was used rarely as a receiver in college. So unless Mills shows an unusual performance as a rookie 4th rounder, Faulk or Pass will make the roster as a 3rd round back. My own guess is, so long as Belichick finds sufficient returners on the roster and guessing that they will use more TE f-back blocking, that Pass is the more expendable.

There have been worse players in the NFL than Faulk. And, Faulk did pretty well in 2003, all things considered. But, you are correct in that Faulk's 1 fumble per 45 touches isn't very good.

However, to say that Faulk doesn't fit is BS. Not only was Brady pointing out how the offense was different with Faulk in there, but BB said the same thing.

However, Pass isn't nearly the back that Kevin is. Pass isn't as good a pass catcher.

Worst rank backed in the league last year...Ranked as a NEGATIVE VALUE.. A 2nd round pick making $2.5 Million a year... We can do much better!

RUNNING BACKS

Evans is a street free agent and camp fodder. He can't do anything better than Pass, and Pass doesn't have a running back spot.

Dillon didn't get replaced and he won't.

No competition was brought in for Faulk's 3rd down role, and none will be.

Short yardage is where Maroney can start.

Mills is our "starting" fullback.

Pass is where is he always is, competing for one of the last ST roster spots.

Pass is in more trouble this year since there is a viable #3 RB and #1 FB. He must make the squad on return and other ST skills.

The guy in the bar I was at in St. Louis was from U. Minn and he cited this as a strength of Maroney.

I'll always remember how I came in late from some business, started talking to this guy, and when I said I was a Pats fan he started commenting on Maroney, so I said Are you telling me the Pats got Maroney?

Let me clarify. I meant Evans was the most over-rated by fans after we saw what he could do during the season. Starks, Brown, and Beisel were busy getting run out of town by mob-mentality fans, so those players were not at all over-rated by my definition. But many saw Evans's one good game and fawned over him on these pages, when in fact I felt he had/has little talent.
