When can we "franchise" a player?

Anyone know the off-season schedule for that? Is it as soon as FA starts, which I think is in about a month?

I'm pretty sure you can do it anytime in the offseason. It would be unfair to have it only be allowed during the FA period, because another team could snatch your guy up before you make the decision.

The sticky at the top of the page has all the important dates including franchise date--2/8.
