Who says you need to answer the door.

I'm going to my brothers for a combined birthday/halloween party. I'm hoping the game is a blowout by the 3rd qtr, because it is going to be hard to concentrate once the trick or treaters start coming.

You probably could for about $10 or $15 bucks (plus all the candy they can eat) pay a neighbors teen that is just past the age of trick or treating that is bummed about having nothing to do that night.

Where I live, we trick or treat on the 30th so It will all be good for me! It wouldn't matter anyway because I'm young and don't have kids so I wouldn't need to make that decision. If no one else would be home to give out the candy then the lights would go off and the curtains would be shut. I wouldn't want to lose focus on the game but I would at least try to put a bowl of candy on the front step for kids to grab from.

Give out a couple of pieces of dried fruit wrapped in a napkin. The word will get out quick. Once the first couple of kids see that "treat" the rest will ignore your house like the plague.

This lady used to give us stuff like peanuts (with the shell) or raisins in small plastic bags. Back when I was in 7th grade I was probably like 5'10 so this lady said to me "aren't you guys a little old for trick or treating?". Yet, we were in middle school. I wanted to smack that *****.

Some of these suggestion were -------------

Anyway, I have 2 dogs that bark like hell when they come to the door. So not only would I not see the game but I would not be able to hear the game even with Gil and Gino in my ear. And my wife is a 4th grade teacher so all her kids target our house.

Nope- screw the kids!!!!

trick or treating is your problem?

halloween this year falls on a sunday, but i assume the halloween parties will still go on late sunday night

lets just hope i can convince my pals its best to arrive at those halloween parties fashionably late....

otherwise gonna have to go hermit on this one, let everyone leave, and stay in to watch the game, LOL

.....missing all the sexy costumes is the biggest downside, haha

I always turn off the lights and put a picture of Albert DeSalvo at the bottom of the driveway.

heh...what are you expecting?...60 year old trick or treaters?

Exactly! Find out if a neighbor's kid would come over and answer the door so you can watch the game, and pay him/her. If you get tons of trick-or-treaters it might be worth it. Halloween will be at it's peak from 5-7, pray for a lot of TO's and commercials

Imagine being in the middle of handing out candy to 10 little munchkins when suddenly you hear the crowd going insane, announcers screaming...

I'd throw the candy in their face and run to the TV

In my hood, yes. They take their teeth out and go as the walking dead.

what do you hand out to them....gummy bears???

I'll be putting a brush guard on my truck, getting extremely inebriated, and driving through crowded neighborhoods as fast as humanly possible.

good thing i live on the west coast. 1pm game time! wont have to skip or dvr the game to take my little guy out

Trick or treating on base is from 6-8. I am either going to A) Watch the first half, record the second half, and pray to God no one tells me whats going on. Or B) Listen to the second half through Verizon's NFL app.

I toyed with the idea of my wife just taking them; but for me personally, I just can't help but feel like a bad dad if I do that. Halloween is a special day for kids, especially young ones (my sons are 6 and 3) and I want to experience it with them. God knows they grow up way too fast already.

**I am not judging anyone who does stay home while the kids are out with the wife**

But then you would miss the Pats game?
