What is our plan for ILB?

up to the task?
the team was 3-1 with Spillane out
the first 2 of those games, Gibbons went wire to wire on defense, and also played ST groups
he had 19 tackles, and 3 tackles for loss in those 2 games
the next 2 games, the Pats won in blow outs and Gibbons played fewer snaps, yet he still had 10 tackles and 1 tackle for loss. and again played ST in both games.

you think there is a better back up LB on the current roster?
What I think is immaterial.

The Pats front office and coaching staff let Gibbons walk because they thought they could find a better back up LB.

Gibbons signed for $3.75M with the Cardinals. Therefore there was very little demand for his services around the NFL.

It appears as though you think more highly of Gibbons than others.

I'm not ruling out Crownover as our OT3, especially early in the season: he has substantial starting experience at LT and also has the body of a RT... That's the Ideal Swing Tackle, IMO. Think VD Low, only better...
To be clear, you would expect Crownover rather than Lumo to replace Campbell if there is an injury?

Basically, you seem to think that Crownover can beat out Lumo as a LT.

I expect both backups to be active, with Lumo as the backup LT. Crownover may be ready to play if Moses is injured, or not.

Yes, the backups will be real factors. Unfortunately, that is the issue.

I continue to disagree with your assessment that we have a deep DL. At one point, I think that once you said "one of the best".
Barmore, Gregory, Williams, Durden, Farmer

I like our front seven "starters" if we start Durden
Williams, Barmore, Durden
Spillane, Ellis, Jones, Landry/Jacas

Vrabel is very good at finding the best schemes for the players he has. Given who we have as backups, staff will need to work very hard, especially if there are any injuries.
Ok that is fine you disagree. I challenge to ask you to Google search the depth on every teams Defensive line beyond those teams starts and compare them to ours. I'll maintain we have the deepest Defensive line depth in the league.. it's a huge reason why we were able to hold up when Williams went down with the ankle. When your best defensive lineman goes down ans your still able to maintain you don't do that without adequate depth.

Our front base is a 3-4 but we play so many different packages and formations to keep offenses off tilt that alot of of guys will see snaps.

Sensible. The offensive line is is much better shape now heading into camp than it's been in several years. Crownover will have every opportunity to solidfy that position in camp. The depth on the line seems much better also.

I think they could carry a lot of tackles on the roster, simply because Campbell and Lomu are uber athletic and both could play guard easily.

The only interior lineman they have to carry besides the starters is Ben Brown because he can play center.

OK. Please list your 3 starters. Then the stats guys and those who know more about other names can assess the rest against those on other teams.

Farmer, Williams and Barmore.. we play a base 3-4 front..

I think more of Gibbens than I do Muma, Reese, Jacobs.
I have not seen Obiazor play
I actually like Britt in a run stop role. A more athletic Elandon Roberts

They're not paying Spillane ten million per to ride the pine.
Could you show me where I said that Spillane would rid the pine? OH. that's right. I didn't. You made that up.. Which is the sort of crap I expect from crap posters like MG and Karp.

If Vrabel had felt that Gibbens was up to the task, wouldn't Gibbens still be with the Patriots instead of with Arizona??

They had a long look at Mapu.

They’re bringing Muma back and four rookies.

It will be a better unit barring total calamity or injury.
Who is the 4th rookie? Obiazor, Hutchins, Jacobs and???

Unless you became Ms. Cleo, you have no idea if the unit will be better without Gibbens and Tavai at LB. You have Muma, Britt, Obiazor, Hutchins, Luketa and Jacobs vying for 2-3 LB spots behind Spillane and Elliss..

Hutchins is a conversion project in all likelihood unless the Pats plan on him adding another 10 lbs on top of the 10 he added by his Pro-day. He's probably a bigger longshot than Jacobs.

Bobby Wagner or Devin White aren’t signing for pennies, they’re also not joining a team that already has an entrenched starter so they can ride the pine. The math is pretty simple.

There’s four rookie LB’ers in camp and Muma will have a full training camp along with a half season with the playbook. The backup situation is already better.

You liked Chuks.

Gibbens was a jag.

Elandon Robert’s was more athletic than Britt in every way.
