At the end of the Mac Jones era, opponents could reliably bank on three things when preparing for the Patriots.

Jones would respond poorly to pressure.

His receivers wouldn’t break free often enough from man coverage to hurt them.

And even if those receivers did spring free, their defense wouldn’t get beat deep. Because since Oct. 8, Jones had completed one deep ball, meaning in every midseason Patriots game, there might as well have been a brick wall 20 yards downfield that ran parallel to the line of scrimmage, boxing play in.

1 - I am still not convinced that Corky can read defenses. Knowing where your best option for success lies prior to the snap is paramount. Having no clue and trying to react to conditions is a recipe leading to chaos and blaming everyone in sight. Somebody has to drive and be in control of the car.

2 - Single coverage is open in the NFL unless your guy is locked down by a CB like Christian Gonzalez. There we are again, where is the best match up? Henry on a shorter DB or LB? Real NFL QBs beat defenses with great throws.

3 - Others here have pointed out that defenses crowded the LOS. The Pats could not run or pass because defenses had absolutely no fear of being beat deep. Please throw at us they thought to themselves.

By no means is the NE QB job settled, but the Pats would not be here in this situation without a certain Alabama QB as the starter.

All of our problems are solved in week 5. Should be a holiday in New England.

QBs capable of making throws like these within it getting intercepted because of arm strength has been the barrier.

The captain has spoken.

How far from Buffalo? Any room for RuPaul?

Hind sight is 20/20. Even though things have not turned out well, choosing Mac and giving him adequate time to adjust to the NFL was the right decision. The MP debacle delayed the assessment process a year.

Patricia did not instruct Jones to lose.

The Pat's allowed Jones freedom in 2022. The Pat's let Jones swing for the fences and air it out.

He just needs weaponz and a great o-line! Look at Purdy in SF? Oh wait....

If those positions were upgraded after 2021 and BB didn’t do everything in his power to ruin Mac, who knows what he’d be like today.

Just what the forum need. Mrs Zappe starting another bash "Corky" thread.
OT - yesterday I used "Corky" as inspiration for a security question! :haha:

I'm trying to get you on the bus to Buffalo.
Why...are you lonely and want company? How's the ride on the short bus anyway you still haven't answered my question.

The undoing was in the 2022 off season.. Mac never bought in, that caused a big riff with Bill. Therefore Mac's play suffered, there was no trust between he and the coach.

Simply put.

Focus on the road Captain.

Plus there was no NFL arm on MAC thing as well.

Mac could make deep throws.. as we know of course. Still think he would benefit from a change of scenery. As Hightower famously said.. new England isn't for everyone..

His deep throws are the rainbow type and just prone to be intercepted. Mac can't make this throw and every NFL game plan needs such capability.
