Go check, I was in on Mac Jones last year way before almost ALL of you. I think the kid is high potential. But let's be real. The team will be rebuilding and while Mac will learn fast, no rookie QB has ever gone all the way.

What can the Pats get for Gilmore, Hightower, or McCourty in trades ?

Butthurt much?

lol, aren't you a sourpuss today

I love Mac. Been driving the Mac bandwagon since last October before almost all of you. But this is going to be a developmental year now.

They can get them dressed for the Miami game! The reason that Brady thrived is he took over a team with an outstanding defense so all he had to do is take what was given to him and not be a hero.

let Mac hand off, screen game and throw to the TEs and let the defense do the rest.

Rebuilding is not in Belichick’s vocabulary. He reloads on the fly.

The fact that Hightower, McCourty, and Gilmore are on the team might be one of the reasons he is willing to start Mac. If he didn’t have them he might have stuck with Cam to ensure the rookie doesn’t have the weight of the world on him. Their buy-in might be causing the rest of the team to accept a rookie as QB instead of a former league MVP.

Mods.....

and

I'd say they can get 10-12 games out of Gilmore, probably 6-7 sacks and good run defense/leadership out of Hightower, and McCourty is probably good for his usual dependable play on the back end (probably another pick 6 thrown in there at some point) and more leadership. That's what I think we can GET for them.

Let's see, rookie QB's have won a playoff game before. I don't think every season is superbowl or bust, but if there's a guy that can do it, I think it's Mac.

Gilmore maybe a third. Not much for either Hightower or McCourty based on their age and contracts.

Why would we trade any of them?

We have a good roster, we can compete for a playoff spot. If we make it, the season would be a great success.

I understand our expectations have been distorted by 20 years of continuous success, but we have to be realistic.

Yes, as opposed to a throwaway year with Newton.

Maybe, just maybe, surrounding a smart young QB with the very best running game and D you can will be better for his development than making the team weaker? Crazy thought, isn't it.
