We're on to the Giants

They lost arguably their best defensive player (Hankins) to a torn pec today, so that will obviously hurt their defense.

Take away Beckham and the Giants have almost no weapons. It doesn't look like they have any clue how to use Vereen properly. They shouldn't be hard to hold down defensively. On the flip side, their defense is laughably awful. Seems like NE could run or pass on them pretty easily. Think they may try to lean on Blount to ease the stress on the OL for a week, but Brady can handle things if that doesn't work out. I am more confident in this one than the Redskins game - Washington has a good OL, Garçon, Jackson, Morris and Jones. NYG just has Beckham.

I've noticed this too. They sort of rotate Vereen in as a "change-of-pace" back, and give him series to himself (Their primary RB Jennings is pretty damned good, IMO), instead of using him more situationally. Also, if he's in on 3rd down, he's going out on routes, not asked to pick up pass rush much.

Chung on Beckham with non-stop safety help would be interesting. Have Chung beat the hell out of him. That safety might not have to be McCouty either. Harmon has progressed really well and is becoming a ball hawk. Perhaps he can pick off one of those typical Eli eyes-closed-prayers he seems to throw up every time he plays the Pats.

Stick Butler on Cruz (if he plays) or Randle, and Logan Ryan on the other.

I want Jones/Hightower/Collins/Nink/Easley/Sheard (hopefully returns) to sack the hell out of Goober

As for the offense, I know it's easy to predict "just cause Brees did it" but Brady should carve up this defense too. Even with this makeshift o-line. I'd feel a lot more confident with Lewis but White + Bolden/Cadet* could be serviceable. Their front 7 is not that great and in the secondary they have Rogers-Cromartie and Amukamara - decent but not great corners. Only thing I worry about is Demontre Moore taking a dirty shot at Brady. He's almost the Giants' equivalent to TJ Ward.

I hope Brady is as pissed off as he seemed going into that Buffalo road game and hangs 40, preferably 90, on the Giants.

As long as those 5 targets result in 101 yards and a TD I'll be fine with it.

more like 8-10 catches for 120-140 yards. he's due for one of those classic gronk games.
line needs to give brady time though.

So I'm talking to a friend of mine on Facebook, a Giants fan, about this game, and it spiraled in to talking about the Super Bowls of course...

Bottom line. He says that he 100% believes we won SB XLIX because Pete Carroll was paid off to call a pass play at the goal line. He wasn't joking, no...

Are all Giants fans insane? God I want to run up the score in this one.

Your friend is f&cking ******ed.

Pretty much. He just wrote back "Like I've been saying Seattle had the best back in the game and two time outs with a minute to go. So tell me somebody wasn't paid off to call the wrong play"

When I said I had no response to that stupidity he came back with "That's because you can't prove me wrong. Look at the time and the time outs and the RUNNING BACK are you seriously gonna argue that lynch wouldn't have scored"

It's insane that someone can actually think that... I have to agree with both of you! Don't think I'll admit to him being a friend anymore... haven't seen him since high school anyway

Tell him that Lynch sucked on short yardage plays last year, as well as this year through the first half of the season.

Not worth trying to carry a conversation with him that contains facts... he clearly doesn't focus on them. I stopped talking to him once he brought out his wacky conspiracy theories.

Of course we all know that is true. Honestly sometimes I feel like Patriots fans are the only reasonable ones... what happened to the other 31 that they became so unbearable to talk to about anything related to football?

I'm actually excited to see how the Patriots do against some talented WRs. We haven't gotten too many looks at superstar WRs this year -- a few above-average guys but other than Antonio Brown we've gotten off pretty easy.

If our secondary can hold its own, I'll be even more excited about this team. If not, then it gives the coaches more information about our flaws before the playoffs, and a chance to come up with ways to correct them (probably not personnel wise, but maybe with new schemes or formations).

I don't even understand who, in his theory, offered up the money to Carroll... Belichick? What, he predicted that the game would come down to a last second play at the goal line? K.

What I won't be looking forward to this week is watching Superbowl replays. The Helmet Catch is gonna be everywhere (along with the blatant holding before Eli threw the ball). Even if you turn off the TV all week, you know it's gonna be shown a couple times during the game.

Does he also think Ricardo Lockett and Jermaine Kearse got paid too? Or that Lynch got paid to get tackled just short of the endzone?

Also, Pete Carroll is poor? He was set for life before he even got to Seattle.
