Why Burrow might play.

1 - He has gone on win streaks before like 2024. Cinci was 4 - 8 after a week 13 loss vs the Steelers. Burrow led the Bengals to 5 straight wins to cap off the season. Not vs chumps either. They beat the Broncos and Steelers.
2 - Flacco is on a 3 game losing streak. Who knows if his shoulder is really dinged up.
3 - Burrow wants to play and evidently has been working hard to return to his job.

Exactly. They are 3-7 after all in a limited division.

The chicken littles are out in full force. 'You saw your shadow and his name is Joe Burrow. Bow to the great one who is also known as, Owmyleg!'
Next week it will be Jaxson Dart and Abdul Carter.

Unless he can play 4 positions on defense at the same time, it. doesn't. matter.

The Bengals have a historically bad defense.

We should get up two scores early game over. Maye is going to destroy that Defense!

I fully expect Burrow to play - it's not like a knee or arm/hand injury - it's his left toe, so I think he'll be ready to go. I don't expect a lot of rust or bad decisions. He may not be ready to scramble much, which could help us. But, I think it'll be a close game.

Truth is - the pressure may be on our offense to keep up with their scoring. Because if our sleepy-D gives up a first drive TD to them, it won't be like the Jets or Titans who barely score again. But, I hope to see our run-O succeed and sustain long drives.

If Josh can get the two-headed beast of RBs working in tandem, that could do wonders for opening up our offense even more.

Turnovers on offense/st's is the only thing stopping the Patriots from winning this game imo. Their defense is historically bad. Burrow or not, the Bengals are good for 2 turnovers per game. So....no TO's and no way I see a path to losing.

Also, the Patriots will need to face elite QB's in the postseason. Might as well start now and get experience.

Nice weather forecast anyway - 58, sunny, low winds.

This game concerns me. Desperate team, Burrow will probably be close to 100%. I think it will be high scoring and we can't turn it over.
I don't see them scoring more than 17pts on our D we'll probably score 35. We are kinda at full strength compared to many Teams at this time.

It's simple, In the Bengals you have one of the top scoring offenses squaring off against the top rushing D, and a fair passing D. While the Pats O will be facing the worst run AND pass D's in the league... without their best player.

So, the Bengals go into the game knowing they HAVE to be a predominantly passing team to move the ball, and we know it too. And they are missing their best receiver.

The only POSSIBLE way we can lose this game is to lose the TO battle by 3. Give up a defensive TD, and a STs TD. It would probably take all 3.
It'll be a good test for our defense; there are things I'd like to see improve. But should the outcome be in doubt, Joe Borrows or no Joe Borrows? NO WAY!

Bengals Defense 2025:

33.2 PPG
32nd in points allowed
32nd in yards allowed
31st against the pass
32nd against the run
32nd in yards per drive allowed (39.8)
32nd in points per drive allowed (2.98)
31st in Net Yards/Pass Allowed (7.1)
30th in Rush Yards/Carry (5.2)

Edit: As a reminder, there are 32 teams in the league.

IF they had Ja'Marr Chase I would say bet the over 70. But without him not so much: I think the Bengals Offense is going to struggle against us. Maye will pass for over 300 for the First Time of many to come starting this week. Our Offense is keeping the Bengals DC up at night.

You're so specific.

I feel like people either haven't a) seen the Bengals this year at all or b) don't really understand what historically bad defense actually means.

This is the worst defense of the 2020s, by a good margin, it's in shouting distance of a couple of those 0-16 teams. Also half this board's trade binky Hendrickson has another hangnail, so he'll be sitting this one out.
