DRAFT Welcome to New England - Illinois Edge Gabe Jacas! (2nd round, #55)

If they're wanting Jacas to take a little less for not disclosing an injury they're really going to sink the season for this player and create bad will over what? 50k-100k a year over 4 years?
The contract dollars are fixed, not up for discussion. The percentage guaranteed is also essentially fixed - for the amount right between the guys drafted above and below him (around 80%).
What is up for discussion is how that guarantee interacts with his pre-existing injury and the current status of that issue.

And notably that discussion really doesn’t really involve whether or not or to what degree he disclosed details, before or after the draft.

Sure it does. It is a business contract clause outside the CBA so everything is on the table. There are no limits to what the contract can say as long as both parties agree.

Check the Mic interviews a guy who researchs player injuries every year. In this episode they discuss all 32 teams. They don't discuss the Pats in any detail unfortunately, not even AJBs knee, Mayes shoulder injury last year, Landry or Jacas.

They do get into Will Campbell and he legitimized the difficulty the injury presented at the end of last season.

Its worth a listen though to learn about the different types of injuries and which ones can linger or be problematic. Its not as straight forward as just give it time to heal.

I'm pretty sure there is a medically valid reason as to why the Pats are seeking some risk mitigation when it comes to guaranteed money for Jacas. Or you can assume the impass is because Wolf is an idiot and Kraft is a cheap.

If it was just Palazolla I would listen to it, but Sam Monson is one of the most arrogant douchebags in all of sports media, he's like Joe Scarborough to me, I turn it off the second I hear his voice. *

*This isn't a political comment, I hate arrogant pretentious assholes in every aspect of life. Doesn't matter if it's Felger, Hannity, Scarborough, or Keith Olbermann, I won't give any of them 1 second of my time.

They emphasize that it was a Grade 3 MCL tear - very significant pain and likely a lack of trust in the knee. And Will Anderson coming at you doesn't help.

Some here **** on Campbell for playing through a serious injury against the best pass rushing defenses in football, and they look like complete morons when they do so.
