im not saying this is a good signing because Patriots signed him. if he was good enough to compete for starting spot before his injury..and is a good special teamer from people saying he is and his stats showing..then thats fine with me. not a great signing but for ST it is

We need special teamers. That's a fact.

My guess is most of you have never seen Mitchell play a down of football in your life and you think it's a good signing just because it's the Patriots who signed him. Great depth. Just like Beisel, Brown, Scott and Starks provided last year. You play with average players, you become an average team.
The concensus is we signed a good special teamer, nothing more, nothing less - not an 'average' special teamer - a good special teamer.................

This guy is still relatively young. I just read about him in the PFW 2002 draft guide.

He's big and has good speed. I think that he's just the type of player that BB and the staff could develope into more than just a ST player.

Until then, if that ever happens, he will be a horse on ST. That's 1/3 of the game.

Welcome Mel!!

I hope Reiss isn't pulling a fast one. I haven't seen confirmation of this signing anywhere. It is April fools.

He said they agreed, not signed, we'll probably hear something official on Monday - besides, the signing of Mel Mitchell may be big to us but ESPN isn't exactly going to break in to some show announcing it

And , I guess the "official site" does not do any updating on the weekends.

Yeah but

... as long as we have above avaerage schemes, all we need is average players (with some noticeable exception QB, CB etc)

True, I wonder if he's got that ring for Mr. Kraft done yet.

He finished that a couple years ago but than Vladimir Putin gangsta'd it.

Wow, we replace Stone with someone who sounds just like him.

I'd like Stone back too. Remember Corwin Brown and Larry Whigham? How bout Jerod Cherry and Larry Izzo? Mel and Mike the M & M boys! Is that Murder and Mayhem?
