Andy Dalton, the backup QB for the worst team in the NFL has two more TDs the first half on the road than the Patriots have through 3 games

Just in case you’re wondering where this team stacks up offensively
I was publicly calling for Dalton to be our vet bridge QB in the offseason. Mostly because he has the attack mindset, and is not afraid to throw the ball. I think he would have been a better mentor for Maye - more similar styles than JB. But, our ship has passed.
(ship being a metaphor for a winning season)

You have a point. Dalton was a starter for most of his career. JB has been a Career backup. It's like night and day with the Panthers. 36 points. Wow. It would take us 5 games to get 36 points.

Yeah agreed. As much as it was “inefficient”, overpaying a veteran or even just bringing in more mid-level guys to make sure you had a decent option and ultimately eating dead money was what needed to happen. Right now it feels very penny wise, pound foolish.

The Jete gave Tyron Smith $6.5M guaranteed; the Early Bird should’ve told Wolfie to offer him $7.5M…

Let's get our expectations in place now - we have NO chance to beat the 9ers.
It took some amazing plays from one of the best vet QB's in the league and his top-offensive-minded coach to pull out a come from behind win when the 9ers relaxed.
They will be motivated at home, and we're going to be blown out worse than the Jets game.

"Some say Baker has a knack" - meaningless dribble.

Baker lacks acceleration but has an explosive first step after the catch? Makes no sense.

Baker lacks acceleration but hits a solid top speed. So he runs fast but takes a long time to get there. Maybe that is OK for a deep ball if you have a lot of time.

Baker had one of the highest drop rates in college football. I didn't see anything impressive in preseason. I think he might change direction well if he is up to speed and is a good route runner. That would be valuable. Polk shakes defenders well too.

Baker had one of the highest drop rates in college football. He was easily pushed out of bounds in preseason and could not recover to catch the ball.

Yes I see what you're saying. Baker's a rookie. The only way rookies get better is by seeing the field. As I said he's currently not seeing time for some reason. The pre-season is what you make of it. I saw him get deep and I attended a camp session this summer and saw him have Good day. He clearly has some great speed.

Not sure if anyone caught this, but apparently Skylar Thompson got hurt in the Miami game and has a chest injury. So they’re now down to 3rd stringer Tim Boyle at QB most likely for the week 5 game in Gillette.

It’s Maye Day!

Also nobody “adjusted” to Jones. He hit the rookie wall in 21 but his second half of the season wasn’t as bad as people say it was. After that BB’s ridiculous coaching hires made sure he never got to that level again.

Corky was trash after the bye week. Teams did indeed “adjust” to him.

Jones was pretty good but not great at the start of the season. Got thumped by the Saints in week 3. An adjustment to me would mean that a great QB turned into a terrible one because of that adjustment and I don't think that happened. Jones became terrible after year 1 because his HC who is .426 post Brady developed him that way.

The only really poor game he had after the bye week was vs Buffalo in Foxboro. He wasn't great in the playoff game but for obvious reasons I'm not blaming him at all for the loss. And if it was true that he couldn't adjust then why didn't the HC do something about it or better yet why did the GM draft him at all?

I think Maye has more upside. I think Maye processes as well as Purdy and is much more athletic. The key is how well Maye processes, I am not able to reliably judge that.
You should take a look at Purdy’s performance yesterday with his complete lack of weapons and reevaluate whether or not he’s “just another Jimmy G”

I will take Maye being the level of Purdy in a heartbeat. I can tell based of intial replies that people remain lazy on their analysis with Purdy.
