To me, there have been many dunces who have been successful head coaches in the NFL due to being surrounded by competent assistants and management.
In the Patriots' case, the malaise infecting the franchise has at its nucleus, the offensive coordinator position.

Bill O'Brien may be a wonderful guy, but he is utterly putrid as an OC.
