NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION Week 17: NFL Other Games

Even before Covid, I always thought about the fact that 2 people died every second. Why should this football player get more attention than the 100 people that died while I typed this message? That doesn't include the who knows how many who are close to death's door for unfair reasons.
I'm constantly saying if you're going to pray for a celebrity take the time to pray for the people you don't know going through the same thing.

Right. I don’t know. And he hasn’t died, he’s just in critical condition. I’m not sure what makes this situation so much more “holy” than everything else.
thanks to social media and sites like reddit with their upvote system, now it’s all about who can virtue signal the hardest and show they’re the most empathetic

I keep rolling my eyes with how everyone walks on eggshells. even when it’s obvious they are wondering about the status of the game they have to preface their tweet or post with how obviously Hamlin is more important. like holy ****, it goes without saying that everyone hopes he makes it. you don’t have to keep prefacing everything you say with it just for virtue signal points and to avoid backlash/downvotes

Bills DBs are messed up. How sad.

It’s always amusing (and enlightening) when people pretend to know others’ motivations, because what they’re really doing is projecting their own.

It’s like when someone famous receives legitimate criticism and people defend them by saying, “they’re just trying to bring someone down to make themselves feel better”. That’s one possible explanation (among many). What’s really being said is, “that’s what I would do, that’s what I am thinking about - bringing someone else down. I think others would think this way because that is how I think”. It’s projection.

Just like accusing others of virtue signaling. Maybe they’re virtue signaling. Or maybe they just genuinely feel compelled to make clear that the health of the player is the thing of ultimate importance here, even if it seems obvious enough to not bear worth repeating. A person perceiving a statement as virtue signaling is probably saying the most about their own motivations.

Hamlin was DEAD

His heart stopped and he quit breathing right on TV during a football game.

Hopefully the twitter mob won't go after him...

The NFL is sacred ground.

The Woke Mob know who they can and cannot push around.

Bad news, you might be a sociopath.

So, now that we’re getting some good news on this kid, will this game be played anytime soon? Or are both teams just going to continue to move around as if there was a nationwide atrocity that just took place?

im commissioner of my fantasy football league, and the 2 teams playing for superbowl have josh allen, joe burrow and joe mixon

Its 30 point lead right now for team with Allen and Mixon, so its not as hard of a decision for me.. but i went onto Reddit and there are some commissioners that I do not envy on any level as they try to figure out how to handle the superbowl in their leagues where the games are virtually tied with each team having 1-2 players in this game

Some leagues have large prize pools, mine is more of a friendly family league at $250... but leagues playing for thousands of dollars, yikes that is not going to be a fun situation to navigate. Lots of different theories in Reddit about how to handle it, glad my situation is a bit more clear since the game isnt really close

Never been in a fantasy league (always figured it was too much work having a Casino slave driving boss), but what's there to figure? Aren't the fantasy results based on NFL schedule anyway?

Yes, fantasy football has been thrust into a massive sh*t-storm. Yahoo has a decent, but still convoluted, plan to resolve the matter but for the time-being it's a mess. And if every game gets played, except for the Bills-Bengals game, then quite a few participants are going to be left screwed (especially if their league finished at week 17 which is most).

I have Knox needing 22.1 points

If they don't finish the game then you'd have to either just give the win to whoever happens to have the lead when the game was canceled, which would cause a lot of frustration

lots of suggestions being made like using projected points for then players impacted, or having those players points from week 18 count towards the score, some are just redoing the championship in week 18, etc

Week 17 was the Superbowl for most fantasy leagues, down to 2 teams and MNF was the last game of the week to decide who would win the Fantasy Superbowl and the prize money

Redoing it on Wk 18 makes the most sense. Doesn't make sense to try to salvage points from a game that was cancelled. What's the issue with continuing it to this week?

that might be the way some leagues go, just count the points for those players in week 18.. but redoing the entire game might upset people, if someone thought they basically had the game won and now have to play again, where the RNG dice roll of fantasy football can be a cruel mistress

I dont see it being a problem in most leagues, but super competitive leagues for lots of money I could see it turning into a **** show

So the goddamn Queefs might get the #1 seed
