Who was up and who was down this week for Patriots players? This is my take, feel free to critique or post your own.
Up
• Tom Brady: He was 25/29 prior to the final drive, he has been much better with his accuracy over the last 2 games.
• Marcus Cannon: He had in my opinion his best game as a pro.
• Kenbrell Thompkins: He had a nice bounce back game, targeted 2 times resulting in 2 receptions for 60 yards.
• Shane Vereen: He may have been the best player on the field other than Brady and Newton last night.
• LeGarrette Blount: I am still not a huge fan of Blount (not even sure why) but he had a very good night running the ball; 10 carries for 49 yards.
• Duron Harmon: The rookie was not great by any stretch of the imagination but he did his job and did not make any notable mistakes.
Down
• Aqib Talib: He let Smith get into his head a bit too much and it made him like a punk on national TV which is disappointing because he has actually been a model player since he has been here. It did not bother me as much as it bothers many but he still makes the list because in his previous games played he was playing at a DPOY level.
• Stevan Ridley: I didn’t have an issue with the fumble against the Steelers because it was a good defensive play, last night’s fumble was due to his being lackadaisical and not remaining focused on protecting the football when making a cut or a move, he needs to work on that he has potential to be a top 5 back in this league but it will be impossible to reach that if is always on the bench.
• Ryan Wendell: This guy took a lesson in the offseason on how to play yourself out of a high value contract extension, I can no longer defend him as I did early in the season he is not playing a good brand of football not even close.
• Logan Mankins: Problem with the penalty by Mankins was that it was something he’d do in the past and it was not a major issue because he was the best OL on the field, now that he is not those dumb penalties aren’t acceptable – be good or be good at it.
• Danny Aiken: Ryan Allen saved his ass big time that was a terrible snap. I am not sure if Aiken will be our snapper next year he seems to be going the wrong way in terms of development.
*Please note these players are in no particular order.
