We Might Give Some Credit To Seattle

Not sure who did not give Seattle credit, they played well, had a great game plan, the players to implement it and executed well.

To discuss what or how the Patriots might have done either this year or in 2007 is foolish...

On the other side 4 turnovers by the Broncos is the key statistic.... you cannot turn the ball over 4 times while the other team commits 0 in a Super Bowl and expect to win.

I give them all the credit in the world. They did what I expected them to do, which was stifle a waning Denver O.

The 49ers probably would have had a similar result.

Most of the choking stuff comes from the fact that the Broncos played as if they were in a daze from the first play of the game. They didn't play as well as they could have. And of course, it's the essence of Peyton. He did it to himself with all these poor performances from college on.

One of the best defenses I have ever witnessed in my lifetime. Very, very fun to watch.

The only one I can say was more fun for me personally, and that's just because I'm a fan, more from a pure luck/excitement standpoint, were the 2003 Panthers with all those OT wins and blocked PATs and field goals. And maybe Tebow's Donkeys.

But Seattle is in a league of its own for sure and has to be up there with the greatest of all time.

Seattle played two home playoff games against the Saints (very comparable to the Pats) and Niners, and couldn't put either away until the final seconds. The fact is Seattle is a very good team, no surprise given it made it to the finals, but is not unbeatable.

The Broncos mistakes never allowed for pressure on Wilson and the Hawks offense. It forced a one dimensional offense into the strength of the Hawks D. Those mistakes changed the way the game had to be played, and the Broncos never found a rhythm. Would that play out the same way in a rematch, or in 20 rematches? No chance.

This team beat last years' Pats in Seattle by 1 point, and this 13-3 team is not markedly different than the 11-5 version last year. I don't think you have to look past last years' team to find competition.

Good post, thanks.

Like many here I'm optimistic that the 2014 Pats will be loaded and can't possibly have the amount of injuries etc. that whacked them this year. Meanwhile, a lot of young players will have gained crucial experience from the extra playing time in '13. I think they can build a team that could hold up to a team like Seattle. A Pats-Hawks/Niners SB will be epic.

By the way, AFC West plays NFC West next year. Broncos will definitely need to toughen up.

I thought Seattle got off to a great start with that massive hit by Kam Chancellor on Thomas off crossing routes. I thought that changed the demeanor of the Broncos offense- They seemed to shy away from that the rest of the game.

It certainly helped that the Broncos D were playing pretty stiff; I couldn't believe they bit on the Harvin misdirection play three times in a row.

I'm glad the patriots didn't have to face them. i think the team (with the state of the players they had) went further than any reasonable mind would have the right to expect of them.

It's a Patriots forum, we talk about things that matter to the Patriots. We're mostly happy to see Seattle win it, but we're also concerned about our legacy and Denver's loss means more to us than Seattle's win.

You're right in that the hit on Thomas set the tone. I wish the Pats had a talented safety like that next to McCourty that could lay the lumber over the middle to set the tone like that. Unfortunately, they don't. The Broncos receivers played with their heads on a swivel after that.

Maybe the pats will see how a good defense operates and copy something. Couldn't hurt. Manning made them look like children and Seattle made the bronocs look like children.

Im convinced more than ever its all about the pass rush and the back end on def.

This is especially true in the pass happy NFL.

With that in mind we need to upgrade Ninko and Gregory with some real athletes.

Hearing where Sherman and Chancellor were picked almost made me throw up.

I give a ton of credit to the Seahawks. Their defensive gameplan reminded me of the Pats vs. the Rams in the Super Bowl. Hit everyone early and often. Just beat them up.

And offense, they went right at Champ Bailey early which I wish the Pats did more two weeks ago. They did a lot things to keep the Broncos defense off guard and trying to play catch up all game.

Absolutely. That Seakhawk defense is as good as I've seen in a long time.
They play old school defense that I love to watch. They don't try to trick anyone or try to hide their coverages.
Nope, they play a pretty basic defense and they simply beat people up.
I'm hoping with the success the Hawks are having the NFL will now swing back to blood and guts football and away from arenaball.
And the Patriots better get on board.
